@hankgreen IMO this explains the main weakness of AI image or video generation - that we can’t go a level or two down into augmenting the process of that creation. Everytime you don’t really know what you’ll get. Maybe better tools in the future will support this.

@jbarro Lakes that are named descriptively, the description is first - Great Bear Lake, Pyramid Lake. Lakes with names the name is second. Lake Mary, Lake Eleanor - sizes can range larger or smaller and this generally holds though there are always exceptions

Introducing Hermes Curator! The new system built in to Hermes Agent now helps you keep your skills that the self improvement loop creates in check, by consolidating and pruning automatically. The curator does multiple things: - keeps track of how often you use each skill, when it was last updated/created, etc - Once a week runs automatically (configurable) - Uses the analytics plus it's own scanning of your skills and consolidates or prunes them if necessary - Skips externally installed skills, built in skills, and skills you "pin" that you dont' want touched. It will only attempt curation over agent created/updated skills or user written skills. - It will then determine whether skills can be consolidated, pruned, or otherwise made more manageable. It will convert some skills that are too specific into references, templates or scripts for larger/broader skills, or integrate them directly into a consolidation of an existing skill. @KatieKeithBarn2 Look into a dedicated attribution tool that tracks cross channel. Tracify is a good example (I’m the product lead there and can walk you through the concepts if you want)

This year we’ve spent $18,000 on Facebook ads, which Facebook claim have generated $84,000 in sales. But Matomo says Facebook has referred $658. GA4 says $1,822. I’ve always suspected Facebook inflates its numbers, but I can’t prove it. Has anyone else seen a gap like this?

@tedcooke It's not (though perhaps it feels so). Societies that lacked labor saving devices (e.g. 1900s UK) spent more time on unpaid household labor. Anyone still washing their clothes by hand today has less free time than you or me with a washing machine.

I spent 10+ hours writing the tweet for my upcoming launch already. The more time I spend, the more I see gaps in the product that hurt the storytelling, and I need to fix those if I want to inspire people with the launch. This made me realize the best way to build my product isn't to start with product or distribution: it's to start by writing the story. What story can I tell people that is going to inspire the most and drive the most virality and purchases? Then once I figure that out → build the product to match it. I think this is a smart approach in 2025.

After 6 months of analysis paralysis, I make the bet to focus solely on the product. “OK product with great marketing beats good product with mediocre marketing” While this is true, I find it very hard to convince new customers when the product is not 10x better. I think it’s more true for VC-scale startups than a niche indie product. BoltAI’s growth mostly comes organically from word of mouth. My hypothesis is that product-led growth would be the best fit for me. My rationale is this: to 10x marketing, I need a 10x better product. Now the hard part is how to make it 10x better. BoltAI is already pretty good, definitely one of the best AI clients on the market. I have some ideas how to do it, but I don’t think sharing it would be beneficial. If you’re a customer, please be patient. I’m super excited about BoltAI v2 and here is my promise: it will be 10x better ⚡️

People keep saying this... but then how do you explain Steve Jobs? You don't invent the iPhone by interviewing customers. You invent it by going in a cave for a while and thinking / prototyping hard. Most entrepreneurs are just scared of having a vision because failure hurts 10x more. So in the end they do "what customers want" and create less interesting products.

I wish I could say this story is made up: it is not. It's from Herval Freire who is Head of Engineering at @mobile__dev. I hear similar ones from other eng managers hiring. Remote technical interviews feel increasingly broken - in good part thanks to AI "help" tools

@thomaspaulmann Screenshot annotations, screen recording, amphetamine replacement. Maybe password management if not too complex. Your Quitter replacement is a nice start but the UI is tedious as I have to each app one by one (single screen like you do with hotkeys would be better)
