@0xPrajwal_ Some of it's probably selection bias. There are a _lot_ more people doing web development than working on kernels, databases, compilers, etc

Why are vibe coders mostly web developers? Genuine question. You rarely hear people vibe coding kernels, databases, compilers, or distributed systems.

There's an absolutely massive jump in quality going from 8-bit to 16-bit games and I can completely understand why someone wouldn't want to go that far back.

The "shopping cart theory" of a good person is no longer valid, as too many people know about it and can now perceive they're being observed and put the shopping cart back just because of this perceptual pressure. It's the same as how "Is he nice to the waitress?" is no longer a valid test of character, because everyone now knows it's a test of character, and can easily fake politeness. These "tests of character" hacks are only valid when they're relatively unknown.

@JasonWMizer There's gotta be some action, adventure, and/or horror. Some mystery's nice, as are likable and interesting characters. Male-bashing is an instant put it down and walk away.

It does seem a little strange that we've created these entities that contain the knowledge of almost all of recorded human history and we have only the faintest of understandings of how its emergent properties behave, but hey, we're going to put this being in a child's toy and sell it for $200 so four year olds can play with it. This pretty much isn't going to stop until the Butlerian Jihad blows a few galaxies up.
