Yesterday, EACC Chair David Oginde warned state officers against engaging in politics and said they are “monitoring.” Monitoring what exactly? Kenyans can already see it with their own eyes. Cabinet Secretaries, PSs are in rallies every weekend, openly campaigning using the influence and power of public office. Alice Wahome, Opiyo Wandayi, John Mbadi, Ali Hassan Joho. The evidence is public. The videos are public. The rallies are public. So what exactly is left to “monitor”? This is why many of US believe the EACC and the ODPP only wake up when it’s politically convenient. For everyone else, the law is just decoration.
