@SebastienBubeck it's great but it is lagging a lot! imported my current paper, but still prefer using overleaf due to the lag.. any plan to fix this?

You are welcome to your opinion
Equally, when you say "Bitcoin is useless", you are saying that each and every one of the recorded usecases of Bitcoin is useless
In other words, you are saying:
1. Helping bring energy abundance to these 1800 African villagers have no value unherd.com/2024/01/the-af…
2. Getting aid to 1000s of war refugees is useless wired.co.uk/article/ukrain…

4. Protecting National Parks in Africa is useless technologyreview.com/2023/01/13/106…
5. Helping 19.4 million Afghanastani women avoid State-level financial discrimination is useless

6. Establishing the economic sovereignty of 14 African nations still experiencing French financial colonization is useless foreignpolicy.com/2021/08/03/mac…

12. Allowing people in developing nations to receive remittance payments from family without delays and without heavy fees is useless thenextweb.com/news/el-salvad…

15. Accelerating the renewable transition by making renewable generation more profitable is useless news.cornell.edu/stories/2023/1…
16. Reducing more emissions from landfills than the largest DAC project in the world ever achieved is useless renewableenergymagazine.com/biogas/compani…
17. Developing an monetary financial system with significantly lower emissions and emissions intensity than the banking system is useless nasdaq.com/articles/a-com…… x.com/DSBatten/statu…
Arguing that even one of these things is useless, or that Bitcoin does not deliver this promised value would I think be difficult. Though, have a go if you wish.
But arguing that all 17 have are useless (which you'd need to do in order to contend that Bitcoin is useless)? That would require mental gymnastics beyond the level to justify flat-earth theory.
It's rare I see a technology with one benefits akin to the ones above. But to have 17 usecases of such world-changing dimension - that is a once in a generation technology.

Norsk

@Jackzzprut @NaessRobert @TorbjrnBullJens Som all verdisetting, utfordrende!

Dansk

Bitcoin all-time high i NOK.

Norsk

@Jackzzprut @NaessRobert @TorbjrnBullJens Kun fra et investeringsperspektiv?
- Finansiell inkludering og bruk i undertrykkede regimer: åpner nye markeder, øker etterspørsel.
- Fornybar energi: Bitcoin som katalysator for verdiskaping i nye, store industrier.
Verdifulle bruksområder → høyere etterspørsel → økt verdi.
Norsk

@NaessRobert @TorbjrnBullJens Noen verdidrivere – kom gjerne med motsvar!
- Finansiell inkludering for over 2 milliarder mennesker uten banktilgang.
- Verktøy for hjelpeorganisasjoner (sensurresistent i undertrykkende regimer).

@DSBatten @CNBC @tdichristopher Thanks, I’ll share and get back to you. In the meantime, I’ll give you some feedback myself: It’s a masterpiece.

@aguatorian @CNBC @tdichristopher There’s so much misinformation, they need a reset before they can take on any perspective that it’s good for the environment.
This is the 3-step I’ve found works. You’re welcome to share the video with them.

In late 2017 when it was still fashionable to take cheap shots at Bitcoin's energy consumption, only one media outlet and one journalist stood up and challenged Digiconomist's flawed (and now debunked) assumptions
History will look favorably on you @CNBC. @tdichristopher

English

@DSBatten @CNBC @tdichristopher Absolutely! I'm actively trying. It's challenging, though: Some refuse to take Bitcoin seriously, even though they are cryptographers and infosec experts. I'd greatly appreciate any tips on how to talk to them (you've been excellent on podcasts!). I'll get back to you.
English

@aguatorian @CNBC @tdichristopher Please share this video with your colleagues. It is a longer one, but well worth it, as it addresses all the common objections i one place, using plain language. I'll be interested in their feedback also.
English

@DSBatten @CNBC @tdichristopher Interesting! Thanks for taking the time. I work in academia and have been trying to discuss Bitcoin in a more positive (or at least neutral) light🇳🇴 You're an inspiration doing this! I'll dive into the sources to correctly back up my arguments. Keep it up-we'll follow your lead:)
English

@aguatorian @CNBC @tdichristopher There are other ways they help lower costs too. Eg: they compete with other demand response providers at auction which lowers the cost of DR to the grid. They also provide a base-price for otherwise wasted renewable energy, grid owners don't have to pay curtailment fees.

@DSBatten @CNBC @tdichristopher So yes, mining lowers prices. However, in some cases, due to expanded grids (increased grid fees), prices can increase even more if miners shut down after the grid has been expanded for them. ‘Normies’ might not want to take this risk. How do I talk with them to convince them?
English

@DSBatten @CNBC @tdichristopher It lowers prices because miners pay the grid fees, reducing costs for consumers (even if grid operators expand the grid for miners). However, if the grid is expanded and the miner shuts down (as in this case), consumers face higher grid fees than before the miner arrived.
English

@DSBatten @CNBC @tdichristopher Indeed, prices spiked when mining stopped. However: Introducing miners expanded the physical grid, raising costs shared by all. After the ban, consumers alone must cover the costs. Without mining in the first place, the grid wouldn’t have expanded, avoiding the price increase.
English

@aguatorian @CNBC @tdichristopher It’s the exact opposite. Check out the press coverage of how prices spiked 20% after they lost a bitcoin mining company from the Norwegian grid.
