@FurkanGozukara Yeah. Who misses longface Kerry jetting around telling us he was so important. He solved the ME so that we didn't have to worry about anymore. His diplomatic touch was much more effective than the Abraham Accords.

BBC confirms the Trump administration has completely hollowed out the State Department, attempting complex global diplomacy without actual diplomats. Donald Trump arrogantly believes his unqualified envoys can force an agreement, but Iran is exposing their total incompetence.

@jaysbookman @GsuGrinding So you're arguing that I can lie on Federal Banking forms designed to stop AML if my intent was "good"? That's a hell of defense, and one that I don't think Law Enforcement has to defend. But they do have to defend against entrapment.

@GsuGrinding Where's the law that says they can't? Wire fraud? Like SPLC donors didn't know they might be funding undercover work that SPLC actually bragged about doing?

If using paid informants to infiltrate hate groups is a crime, then the FBI itself was a criminal enterprise during the civil rights era and a lot of American history will have to be rewritten.
KanekoaTheGreat@KanekoaTheGreat

🚨BREAKING: DOJ charges the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) with wire fraud, false statements, and conspiracy to commit money laundering. The SPLC secretly funneled $3M+ in donor funds to violent racist extremist groups: -Ku Klux Klan -American Nazi Party -Aryan Nation -United Klans of America -Unite the Right -National Alliance -National Socialist Movement -Sadistic Souls Motorcycle Club -American Front To hide the payments, SPLC allegedly opened bank accounts under fictitious entities to conceal the source and control of donor funds. Per the indictment: an SPLC field source was a member of the online leadership chat group that planned the 2017 "Unite the Right" rally in Charlottesville — made racist postings under SPLC supervision and helped coordinate transportation to the event. FBI Director Kash Patel: "They lied to their donors, vowing to dismantle violent extremist groups, and actually turned around and paid the leaders of these very extremist groups — even utilizing the funds to have these groups facilitate the commission of state and federal crimes." Acting AG Todd Blanche: "The SPLC is manufacturing racism to justify its existence. Using donor money to allegedly profit off Klansmen cannot go unchecked." Scheme allegedly ran 2014–2023. FBI calls it an ongoing investigation. Insane!!!

@MarcoFoster_ @JamesCarville Was this a problem in the 60's and 70' when the Democrats had huge majorities in Congress? Was it a problem when Democrats had Senators from rural states? No it's a problem now because they are confined to small but heavily populated urban centers.

Democrats have been very clear that they will support a national gerrymandering ban if Republicans will agree to it. But Republicans love gerrymandering. They only hate it when Democrats do it. Don’t pick a fight and then cry about it when you lose.

@greendragonhq Revoking the Voting Rights Act (VRA), particularly Section 2, would enable Republican-controlled states to redraw congressional districts in ways that dilute minority voting power, potentially shifting up to 27 House seats toward Republicans.

Speaker Mike Johnson personally represents one of the most gerrymandered districts in the country. The two colored districts on the map are the only ones in Louisiana with Democratic representation. Republicans packed minorities and Black voters into these two oddly shaped, contorted districts so they could more easily win the remaining seats.

Democrats have once again shown how far they will go to break the law, “wage warfare,” and disenfranchise millions of voters in order to force their radical, unwanted agenda down the throats of every American. Tonight's result only proves how egregious Democrats' gerrymander is in a state where almost half of voters (46%) backed President Trump! That is why Democrats relied on rigging the ballot question in order to win. We fought this effort with money, manpower, and in the courts - and those fights will continue. Radical Democrats began mid-cycle redistricting in New York back in 2024, and have proven time and time again how little they regard the will of voters from coast to coast. If Democrats are successful in the 2026 midterms, we know this is only the beginning. They will throw open our borders, let crime run rampant in our streets, project weakness on the world stage, make life more expensive for every family, and flood our elections with non-citizens to try and hold on to power forever. Republicans have responded in state after state, and we will finish this fight - and in November, we will WIN the midterms.

@greendragonhq Learn your history. This was because the VRA demands minority-majority districts. This is true throughout the south. If the VRA is "gutted", SCOTUS to decide soon, then Louisiana can redraw the maps and remove minority-majority districts by diluting the black vote.

This as mentioned above is EXACTLY what the FBI does: it pays sources inside groups under investigation in order to get information that otherwise can't be obtained. It also finds clandestine ways to pay its informants, often referred to as Confidential Human Sources (CHS)

Per the indictment, the DOJ's case vs the SPLC is based on the theory that it defrauded donors by using funds "for the benefit of" extremist groups rather than to "dismantle" them. The mechanism: paying informants. Note that the FBI pays informants in extremist groups.
FBI Director Kash Patel@FBIDirectorKash

This evening: @DAGToddBlanche and I are announcing an 11 count indictment against the Southen Poverty Law Center. Charges include wire fraud, false statements to a federally insured bank, and conspiracy to commit concealment money laundering. The SPLC allegedly engaged in a massive fraud operation to deceive their donors, enrich themselves, and hide their deceptive operations from the public. They lied to their donors, vowing to dismantle violent extremist groups, and actually turned around and paid the leaders of these very extremist groups - even utilizing the funds to have these groups facilitate the commission of state and federal crimes. That is illegal – and this is an ongoing investigation against all individuals involved.

A little background on who the Southern Poverty Law Center is and what kind of work they’ve been doing for decades makes it clear that DOJ’s indictment (which is of the center, not of any individuals) is vindictive & malicious, an attack on civil rights work itself. open.substack.com/pub/joycevance…

@amycoplan @melsorbit @SenBooker @HouseJudiciary @JudiciaryDems NGO's are not law enforcement. They cannot create shell companies and lie on federal documents regarding the purpose of the company. That is against KYC and AML banking laws. This would mean drug dealers could set up shell companies with impunity. Intent is not a defence.

Support hate groups? You mean the people who were infiltrating white supremacist groups? Did any SPLC donors complain about this? I'm asking sincerely. It's possible that some have, but I'd be extremely surprised. The group doesn't attempt to represent itself as anything other than what it is. Its literature makes it clear that it's interesting in identifying and learning about violent extremist groups (e.g. the KKK). I know that our society is super polarized and I'm sure that people who are on the right probably don't like the SPLC, but if they know anything about it, they would know that it has a long history of trying to protect people from violent extremism. Hopefully whatever happens with the case will make everything clear.

The DOJ just indicted the Southern Poverty Law Center, an organization that has spent more than half a century fighting the Klan, tracking hate, and defending civil rights. Let's be clear about what's happening. This administration is using the full weight of federal prosecution to target an organization whose mission is rooting out violent extremism. This is part and parcel of Trump's assault on free speech, on nonprofits, and on anyone who dares to disagree with him. First it was lawfare against political opponents. Then it was revoking the tax status of universities. Now it's a federal indictment against one of the most historic civil rights organizations in America. The SPLC has saved lives. It will not be silenced — and neither will we.

I strongly disagree. It has a long history of fighting for civil rights and against violent extremism. The only groups it works to undermine are violent extremist groups like the KKK. You're obviously entitled to your view. And I understand that people on the right aren't likely to be fans of the SLPC, but it really does seem like a politically motivated law suit. The SPLC has people who were working to infiltrate extremist groups. Supporting those people isn't the same thing as supporting those groups.
