Hi. Today we're looking at how the Religious Right became the Religious Right, and wonder if there's a space in leftism for Christianity.
Here's the latest episode of Some More News: youtu.be/wHdjjXQHxzs

@SomeMoreNews @katystoll @drmistercody @MovieHooligan @countrycaravan @will_gordh @greggmeller @QuincyRashard @mijo_marco @ErikWBarnes @FClintDeNisco Thank you so much for this episode. Christian and seminary grad here. Impressed with your level of research and precision as well as your general respect to faith.

@spoiledmilks @mitchellchase Careful now, that’s how you end up on a podcast.
English

@mitchellchase I'm an old earth'er. And I still hold to inerrancy!

@spoiledmilks @ZonderAcademic @DrChrisWatkin @MattMBarrett Let me know how Critical Theory is. I am interested but lazy.
English

@JonnyRoot_ That might have more to do with inherited wealth then inherited virtue.

@greg_thornbury One of my favorite classes. I ended up getting a ThM in philosophy because I found the cultural analysis so interesting. Only 5 days, but really kept with me. Super fun class.

@newvangelicals Everyone’s a literalist until they got to start gouging eyes out.

@CulturalSavage I hope so. Anything to let men wear more than pants, slacks, or shorts.
This is wear I push for men to wear kilts.
Wear kilts.
English

@newvangelicals @williamwolfe I mean, to be fair, Wolfe is right. If it was hard, he wouldn’t be able to do it.
English

@SeranVT @masonmennenga @realKuebler I regret the idea the the word is disconnected from authorial intent yes. The ‘death of the author’ concept makes all literature vacuous, without consistent meaning. But let’s play with the idea for a moment. How do you know what the text means if it’s unfettered from intent?
English

@alexditto514 @masonmennenga @realKuebler But you are rejecting the concept of the living word. The Bible was merely written by men as a catalyst for Jesus, himself. The writings inherently transcend authoral intent.
English

Wolves say transgenderism is OK, but we know better.
"Watch out for the dogs, watch out for the evil workers, watch out for those who mutilate the flesh."
Philippians 3:2
Mason Mennenga@masonmennenga
if you can believe jesus can be literally raised from the dead then you can believe people can be literally transgender
English

@SeranVT @masonmennenga @realKuebler So, in conclusion to this short story, the scripture’s are infallible, but this anti trans interpretation isn’t.
English

@SeranVT @masonmennenga @realKuebler Since the infallibility doctrine only applies when scripture is properly interpreted and eisegetic interpretations are fundamentally flawed, any interpretation that insinuates that Paul was intending these passages to apply to trans people are rejecting the infallibility doctrine
