@dobssi @mara_yamauchi @ForWomenScot @BBCRadio4 @sharrond62 Most grassroots sport depends on volunteers to some extent. My guess is that most of those volunteers will expect people simply to be honest about the category they’re eligible for and to compete accordingly. There shouldn’t be any need for ‘policing’.

Please listen! 👇 I’ve written to @BBCRadio4’s You & Yours about this.👇Parkrun collects NO sex data so they cannot measure how many women are doing what, and claims like Duggan’s are meaningless. No challenge from presenter Winifred Robinson. #makeparkrunfairforall

SEENinSport@SportSEENuk

CEO of @parkrunUK, Lil Duggan, was on @BBCRadio4 claiming a real success in increasing the participation of women, “Parkrun is really proud we have almost parity of genders” Parkrun’s self-ID policy allows any male to register in the ‘female’ category; invalidating their claims

@alicegrant @luthoreads It was a bit of an Aladdin's Cave experience in my view, it had everything you could want but the most bizarre layout especially before they moved. Not so impressed post pandemic as the stuff I used to go in for well they don't have the choice anymore or stock.

@luthoreads You'd have loved Foyles before they did the Waterstones treatment. You could find rare gems.

What joy to discover that the marvellous novelist & cook Michele Roberts has written a follow-up to her simple but essential French Cooking For One - French Cooking for Two: Seasons of Friendship! Who could resist giving this to a friend? @LesFugitives amzn.eu/d/4nW9erZ

I thought my admiration for @HJoyceGender could not go any higher, but her calm, factual, polite arguments about why transwomen (men) should be kept out of women’s spaces @BBCWomansHour is exemplary. Of course she should have been on four years ago when her book Trans came out.

@LissaKEvans @FrenchNicci Everything by @LJRossAuthor, I have everything on audiobook because I struggle to concentrate enough to read and having to wait for the audiobook is tortuous. I also listen to them with my Mum on the way to and from her medical appointments.

OK (*makes giant effort to change topic*) - I've been discussing unputdownable books - books that provide wonderful distraction during tough times, well-written but not 'difficult'. Two examples, 'House of Correction' @FrenchNicci, '22/11/63' Stephen King. Any suggestions?

If the BBC are looking for new presenters who won’t bring them into disrepute may I respectfully suggest they employ more women over 50? We’ve spent a lifetime sorting out other people’s messes, can spot trouble a mile off and have no problem calling it out. You’re welcome.
