@nosilverv Rome utterly destroyed Carthage for similar reason - their abhorrence of child sacrifice. Carthage gave up their navy and weapons, submitted to every request, and were still destroyed. ox.ac.uk/news/2014-01-2…

NEW: Days after Nick Shirley’s viral video on Minnesota fraud, CBS News’ Tony Dokoupil declares that he is going to start reporting “for you” because no one trusts legacy media anymore. “So here's my promise to you today, and every time you see me in this chair…” “You come first, not advertisers, not politicians, not corporate interests and yes, that does include the corporate owners of CBS.” “I report for you, which means I tell you what I know, when I know it, and how I know it…”

@JWhitebread1 Born and raised in Idaho, I never heard the Dubois story. I say we start a campaign to re-name the city (town, village, whatever) of Dubois. He's beyond racist, he's beyond Nazi, he's beyond KKK.

Had a conversation with my old history prof from BYU last night. We were talking about D&C 132, and the issue of polygamy and why it happened. He said one of the fascinating wrinkles was the reaction to the Official Declaration by the enemies of the church. After the Edmunds-Tucker Act, the gov't had seized all church property, all temples, the Gardo House, everything, and the church was really being strangled. When Wilford Woodruff announced the end of polygamy, noted antagonist to the church, Senator Dubois of Idaho was livid, as were many other politicians who were opposed to the church. They didn't just want the church to give up polygamy, they wanted to end Mormonism entirely and felt they finally had it by the throat. By focusing all their attention on polygamy, and making it the issue, they had brought moderates to their side. When that issue was removed, the moderate support evaporated, the property of the church was returned, and a few years later, Utah was granted statehood. They were furious and felt that their assured victory against the Mormons had been snatched from them. Not that Dubois gave up the fight. He went on to become a major player in the whole Reed Smoot hearings. But that was the last major attempt at disenfranchising the saints. My prof. called polygamy the "ram in the thicket." After God had tested Abraham, he provided a ram in a thicket to complete the sacrifice. Without the ability to sacrifice something, the saints may not have endured. Oh, and another interesting side note I've discovered. Just like Patrick Connor, most of these genocidal crazy anti-mormons of the 19th C. had a mutual antipathy for Indians. Dubois advocated for the total extermination of the Nez Perce and Bannock tribes. What lovely people our enemies were.

@I_Am_JohnCullen @Megultra Fair point for modern firearms. On an older bolt action rifle, the stock could be attached to the receiver with a slotted flat head screw. The scope rings could also use flat head screws - the position of the scope bothers me.

A. We don't use "screwdrivers" to assemble and disassemble rifles. >> We use hex wrenches, or Allen key/wrenches. B. Hunting rifles aren't assembled and disassembled prior to, and after to firing. The rifle they showed us, won't fit in the backpack they showed us, even if broken down. The DNA they got from the towel, how did they match that to the kid? The kid isn't cooperating. Why would they have the kid's DNA, to compare to the towel? Did they draw the kid's blood, anyway, despite him not cooperating? Did they strap him down..? Do they have your DNA, already? 🙄

A DNA lineage in ancient North America has no trail through Siberia or East Asia. Its closest relatives are in the Near East and Mediterranean. If it didn’t come through Siberia, how did it get here? Haplogroup X: the genetic breadcrumb still rewriting the map. 🧵

@_HistoryNerd Slavery in Ireland didn’t start with the Vikings. St Patrick was taken from England to Ireland as a slave in the fifth century.

The Irish were among the first slaves in the Americas—sold, starved, and worked to death. Their suffering was silenced, their story erased. But this dark chapter shaped nations in ways few realize. Here’s the forgotten truth about Ireland’s tragic history of slavery:

My son was at Seattle Children’s over Christmas and New Years 2023. Every morning of our stay, I’d go to the River entrance Starbucks and get breakfast. On Christmas morning when I went to pay, the barista noticed I was wearing a green ‘care giver’ lanyard and informed me that my bill had been paid. I asked who I should thank for the kindness, thinking there was a corporate sponsor. I was told a security guard holds a fund raiser to help families who stay over the holidays. It was a kind gesture I’d like to pay forward . Here is a link to the ‘Mort’s Support’ gofund.me page. Merry Christmas! gofundme.com/f/help-familie…

@NorthstarCharts @KinesisMonetary I had the same reaction to your first post then read through the thread. A 25-35% pullback from a price of $37-50 on silver is believable. It’s all in the wording and how it’s interpreted. Thanks for sharing regardless of the response.

#Gold - The amount of mocking, disbelief and total lack of awareness shouldn't surprise me, but it does. I had the same reaction to my last 5-year forecast, when I suggested a 25-35% drop from $2000 was coming long before we even reached $2000...

#Gold - When everyone is going nuts, in the relatively near future, be ready for a probable multi-month 25-35% drop. At the same time, expect silver to plunge 40-50%. Much more detail on this is available to our members & will be given in real time as it's happening. Always think & plan ahead.

@aztecnieto @SBakerMD Cultural differences inside 3 is problematic. Not convinced population can be unified under one banner. 2, minus Portland and Seattle, are culturally similar. Logistics would be difficult for 3 if 2 stays put. Numbers would be a problem for 2 if 3 is united.
