Most worrying stat of 2026: Over 70% of Americans say they're struggling to afford basics like food, housing, and healthcare, per CBS News. Why are we paying taxes if over 70% of Americans are struggling?

Most people are coming to the realization that many university degrees are worthless, or at least not worth 4 years of your productive life and not worth $100,000 to $200,000 in debt. Looking back at your degree, was it worth it? Or was it just a good time for a few years? Would you do it again? My degree was a complete waste of money (business school) and I ended up in a career that didn’t require it at all.

To replace everything a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom does for her family, you'd need $180,000 a year. Instead we told her to get a job. Handed her empire to strangers. And called it progress.

Because too often, men took this as an opportunity to exert financial control and financial abuse over their spouse. So women said enough is enough, and took control for their own safety and well-being. So yes, it is progress. Having financial freedom and means to leave a toxic situation is progress.

God I hate LinkedIn. Everytime I log in I feel a bit of my soul leave my body. Does anyone actually enjoy using it? It's everyone just faking it while crying behind their screens?

@drgurner This is so true. I'm 10000x happier that I'm not stressed about having enough $$ for rent each month. And not stressing about how much a meal out with friends will cost. Or about the cost of going to the doctor.

There is a weird myth that making more money doesn't make you happier. I assure you it does. It makes your entire life easier. It takes away many concerns. It gives you options. No basic need is a concern, and with specialized needs you have choices.

@trentjhughes CA and NYC are expensive, but they are also home to much more economic activity, more opportunity, and you're surrounded by ambitious, successful people everyday. You wont find this in North Carolina. So yes, geography is the most underrated financial decision you'll make.

I just hit $100k in my 401(k) and it only took 6 years. If I don’t contribute another dollar, I’ll retire a millionaire. Compounding is truly amazing.

Can someone explain to me why 20 year olds would rather light their hard earned money on fire picking dog shit stocks instead of just investing in the S&P 500 and building wealth?

@InvestingAddict 1. social media 2. the guise of instant gratification (i.e. chance a stock will hit it big, rather than waiting 5 yrs for S&P to go up the same amount)

War in Iraq: $2.1 trillion War in Afghanistan: $2.3 trillion Projected cost of the war in Iran: $1 trillion Somehow, there is always money for war, but never enough money for housing, education or the needs of working people. We must and will change our national priorities.

@theficouple additionally, i dont think we can rely on social security and medicare anymore. yes, it still exists, but how long until the rug gets pulled out from under us? retirees should plan to have sufficient safety net in that case #financialindependence

The average retiree spends $5,400/mo Social Security covers 37% of that. Investment portfolio of $850,000 could easily cover the rest. So if someone says you need $3 million to retire comfortably? … They’re out of touch.

@theficouple $5,400/month isnt enough to live in most major or second cities, and it is definitely not enough to pay for increased medical expenses (even with medicare). some people want to enjoy their retirement, not just make due.
