@DerrickEvans4WV Of course it’s still down considerably since December. So what’s your point? That’s like losing $8,000 at a casino and being glad you won $3k.

@allgarbled Well, the 1st paragraph is weak; I teach high school srs, and everyone starts their essays like that. It’s trite. You should’ve focused on 1 event and its effect. And the last paragraph is sycophantic. (Sorry for all the horrible events, truly. Don’t let this moment define you.)

@ScottAdamsSays It’s not just white males and females. Very few of my top students - of a variety of races - get into their dream schools, regardless of their “credentials” or political views. There are just so few spots and so many applicants. Not everyone can go. 🤷🏻‍♀️

How many of you know a white male high school senior who has extraordinary credentials but couldn't get accepted at a top school this year. I just watched it happen in real time and my f*cking head is exploding.

@shadwhite Correction: last month you posted screenshots. No one knows where they came from. Give me a freakin break. If you don’t like something, call your children’s school and complain; I guarantee they’ll act because, as all educators know, parents already run the schools.

Today President Trump will sign critical executive orders beginning the end of the Department of Education. This is a powerful step toward putting parents, not bureaucrats, back in the driver’s seat. Now states should follow his lead. In Mississippi, we should abolish the state board of education. The state superintendent of education should instead be appointed by the governor. Then, if crazy things are taught in our schools, parents have the power to hold a democratically elected representative (the governor) accountable. And the governor will have the power to stop nonsense in the schools. If his appointed superintendent does not listen to him, he should have the power to remove that person. To understand why this is important, remember this example: last month I posted screenshots of a Mississippi school teaching that there are more than two genders. I guarantee, if the governor appointed the superintendent of education, a governor of our state would make one phone call and shut that down for good, because parents like me don’t want insane gender ideology taught to their kids. So let’s make the change and empower parents. Follow the president’s lead and abolish the state board of education. Giving parents more power will mean a greater focus on the basics in school, not some bureaucrat’s political philosophy, and our kids will be better off for it.

@shadwhite What a moronic tweet, and what stupid people you all are for applauding it. Imagine thinking that “the next generation of engineers, doctors, accountants, business leaders, etc.” are taking hours upon hours of ELECTIVES instead of working in their majors.

One of the most encouraging things coming from President Trump’s Cabinet secretaries is a “back to basics” attitude, whether that’s in education, defense, transportation, anything. No more weird social agendas. Just common sense. Wouldn’t it be nice if we did that here in Mississippi, especially at our universities? In a red state like Mississippi, we still use taxpayer funds to have university programs on social justice and classes like “gender and zombies” or the history of sexuality and hip-hop. We need a bruiser to come in and put a stop to that, like Trump, and instead spend our money on common sense degree programs. If we focused on educating the next generation of engineers, doctors, accountants, business leaders, etc. our economy’s future would be so much brighter.

Tonight I voted for the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, legislation would that would prohibit any publicly funded institution from allowing a biological male to compete in women’s sports. This bill did not pass the US Senate, but I applaud the efforts by President Trump to support women and girls in sports.

Keilar: There are military members of the guard and reserve. They are protected by law from being fired from their day job while they're deployed. I have learned that at one agency, an employee who is actually currently deployed with the military has been notified they’ve been fired. Miller: I'm sorry, I'm confused by your question. Is your question does the president have the authority to fire a member of the U.S. Military…. I don't know what laws you're referring to. I would love for you to be more specific.  Keilar: The Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act

@tatereeves 1) This really has nothing to do with you, but it does say a lot about TEACHERS who are willing to “be bold, [and] fight against the ‘status quo.’l”2) If we’ve made so much progress without school choice, why do we need school choice?

During my time as Governor, Mississippi has seen record-breaking academic success in our state. But we would be foolish to assume that this historic achievement will just continue on its own. We must continue to be bold, fight against the “status quo,” and give parents more choices for their kids’ education. The Mississippi House Education Committee passed HB 1433 today. It allows Mississippi students in the worst performing schools to transfer to higher-performing schools. I want to thank @JasonWhiteMS, Ed Chair Rob Roberson, @JansenOwen, and the other members of the House Ed Committee for passing this bill! This bill is not a huge leap - in fact, it has safeguards to protect the schools that might receive new transfers….while still helping to ensure students aren’t trapped in failing schools. Say NO to the “coalition of the status quo.” And say YES to HB1433 and doing what’s best for kids!
