@zarathustra5150 @wrathofgnon This was written for a pre Internet age. If anything, mass media is dying today, with all manner of subgroups and isolated communities developing like never before. Only difference now is that geography is not a limiting factor for these small communities to form

@davidfrum @MattiFriedman Indeed, quite the reveal!! FP broke this earth-shattering news that there is lots of interest in the holocaust of our time .... Israel's genocide of the Palestinians in Gaza. ...waiting for FP's next big expose on renewed interest in Iran.

In 2 randomized, open-label trials of Paxlovid there was lack of evidence of reduced hospitalizations among the participants, who were age 50+ with coexisting conditions, and who were vaccinated. The endpoint was very low (<1.2%) in the treatment and control groups for both trials (i.e. under-powered to detect a difference). nejm.org/doi/full/10.10…

@amots @EWErickson They abused the vra and seized control via the courts! Democrats gerrymandered states they don’t even do well in because of vra abuse. Republicans didn’t respond

Just so you get the truth and not the partisan spin here, Republicans came up with the idea of the mid-decade redistricting fight and started in Texas. Then, in Virginia, the RNC spent $0.00 to fight. Now, as drawn, the Democrats have an advantage from the redistricting fight.

@JesseBrown So you are hoping to have people be prejudice against the Muslim community instead? The narrative becomes Muslim shoots at Jewish restaurant as opposed to person. What value are you getting by knowing his name?

I'm glad Trump fired Pam Bondi and Kristi Noem, but you know who he should really fire? All his Israel First advisors, who told him this war would be easy. They really screwed him. Plus, they work for a different country.

@jonfavs The smugness is the worst part. What a hollow, disgusting person you are. Not sure if it's better that you don't know how foolish you are, or that it's all an act to hide your true feelings.

@conor64 Instead, people just wanted to pretend like it never happened. Incredibly shortsighted.

@conor64 I was upset that no lessons from this public health emergency had been learned or implemented: - no mandated ventilation requirements in the building codes - no mandated masking in hospitals and other medical facilities - no focus on air quality and ventilation in schools

A question for everyone: survey data suggests that by the end of the Covid-19 emergency trust in public health institutions had decreased significantly. If you are among the people who reacted that way, why specifically? I'm hoping for long, diverse, individualized answers.

what do you think is the extent of platners nazism please be specific? is he for concentration camps for jews? does he want to ban jews from public spaces? have masked men shoot them in street, deport them to foreign camps? jail people who write pro-israel op-ed’s? trying to get a baseline for comparison

So @Timodc is on this platform all day acting sanctimonious and now he’s saying — vote for the guy with the Nazi tattoo, it’s important! Once a hack, always a hack.
The Bulwark@BulwarkOnline

“It is absolutely critical that the Democrats figure out how in the fuck to win working-class white people if they ever want to have power or control again.” @Timodc on why backing Graham Platner in the Maine Senate race may be a gamble worth taking.

@doubleouttahere @shannonrwatts Palling with Nate Cornacchia, boosting Stew Peters, getting a fricking SS tattoo. At some point, enough is enough. If he's too stupid to understand these connections, he *also* doesn't deserve to be a senator.

I’m not a centrist or a leftist; I’m a progressive Democrat who supports everyone from AOC to Underwood to Gallego. But supporting/nominating someone for US Senate who continues to engage in antisemitism is a moral stain on our party and a warning sign for our future.
Ruben Gallego@RubenGallego

.@grahamformaine is the kind of fighter Maine hasn’t seen in a long time, someone who tells you exactly what he thinks, doesn’t owe anything to the special interests, and wakes up every day thinking about working families. He’s a Marine, and reflects the grit and independence that defines Maine, and that’s exactly why I’m proud to endorse him

I've since read Anil Kishen's apology and looked back at the image's origins, and you know what? It's plausible that he had no discriminatory or hateful intent and that his denunciation of antisemitism is genuine, and not ass-covering. Jewish students shouldn't have to see this stuff in a dentistry class, nobody should. And a person in his position should know better and not need to plead ignorance. But I no longer think it's a foregone conclusion that he was revealing bias or malice.
Jesse Brown@JesseBrown

They are investigating the dean to see if the images he used in a dentristy lecture were racist.... One was "a cartoon of a man with a large, hooked nose swimming in a pool of money." Sounds like a tough case.... thestar.com/news/gta/u-of-…
