Has any one that follows me or sees this post ever been to my home state of South Dakota? And if so where did you visit? The Black Hills is such a beautiful place, I suggest it to everyone!

@BuzzPatterson You won't have that issue on American Warrior Radio! I believe the best quality in a talk show host is NOT talking but rather listening.

Hey everyone, I’ve changed my mind about giving up this account. About two months ago, I went through a breakup from a six year long relationship, which completely flipped my life upside down. I made a lot of snap decisions, and nuking all social media was my way of getting out of my head. It feels like I’m coming back with my tail between my legs after changing my mind to keep this account. I have personally appeared on podcasts, but I’ve tried to maintain a certain amount of anonymity on this account. I do that to ensure this account isn’t about myself but about the men who served in MACV-SOG and their history. I hate that I’ve let my own personal life spill into this. That being said, I hope you’ll all welcome my decision to return. I’ve missed interacting with you all, and I know this community will help me move forward in life to becoming the man I need to be. “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another” Proverbs 27:17 -Jason

We’ve reached a point where so few people know a veteran or active service member that that there is zero desire to understand what real sacrifice looks like. Everytime a financial podcast drops with a veteran on it, people rush to scream “fraud.” But, according to the VA Office of the Inspector General, the fraud rate with disability claims is less than 1%. There are a multitude of conditions that are not physically visible: Traumatic Brain Injury, burn pit exposure, PTSD, gastrointestinal issues, etc that veterans deal with every day. America just came out of the longest war in our history. Medical testing has gotten better. Documentation of medical issues has gotten better. You can’t ask America’s sons and daughters to go to war, and then turn your back on them when it’s time to take care of them.

@SSN_685 A great namesake relationship is critical. I've been told that we (Tucson) have one of the best in navy.

I spent four years aboard USS Wyoming SSBN-742 and one thing that stuck out was how each year, the crew that was off, went to Cheyenne for Frontier Days. They were wines and dined, lunch with the governor, grand marshals of the parade, etc. It really struck me when I saw pictures of one of my guys signing autographs. This was a guy who, well, was not the sharpest tool in the shed and here he was a celebrity 😂 but that started a love of all things Wyoming. My wife and I have visited many times and have been all over the state. We even put in an offer on a home there (Afton) but the guy refused, and life took me somewhere else. Wyoming is truly a gem and even though I do not live there, it has always felt like home when we’re there. Here’s a few from our visit in May 2025. And yes, the upper elevations of Yellowstone still had snow. Some of the roads in the park were still closed.

Although the lobster conversation on social media has grown legs, there is a larger conversation that should be had. In the 1980s, 18% of the country were veterans. That number is now down to around 6%. Less and less Americans know someone who has served. There is a disconnect between the American people and those who serve them. Until that gap is closed, there will be a lack of understanding around what service members and veterans go through. Today it’s lobster, tomorrow it’s veteran’s benefits.
