In #ReadyPlayerOne , Halliday's Journals were kept in a museum building that was filled with every game, movie, etc. that Halliday consumed. This is mine. I fill it with games & movies as I consume them. **Real** media & shortcuts, spatialized into a world of my own design.

Ten years ago and I still remember how nervous I was when this trailer dropped. It was my first time leading feature design for the player combat, new weapons, and star cards. Together with Guillaume's hero designs, we made something special.

Optimized my NPC swarm scripts so now I can have bigger battles in atmosphere over the infinite terrain than I even could in space in v1 of the game system. :) Altitude-based fog & SFX. Capital ships actually fight - chasing each other launching ships until they are destroyed.

- Mixes heightmaps (mostly) to generate terrain patches - Stamps massive heightmap w/ various blend modes - 3-elevation materials - Auto-cliffs w/ various blend modes - Fades to x2 tiled material channel when near - Depth-opacity water w/ waves & wind - Infinite sea-level mode

The past couple days I created a streaming infinite terrain system in @playcanvas . It's got cool features about mixing height map stamps for mountains or canons to break up the proc-gen stuff. Also made radial horizon fog, volumetric clouds, water, & infinite ocean systems.👇

California introduces age verification law for all operating systems, including Linux and Valve's SteamOS, during account setup. All of this to "collect age info and transmit that data to app devs via a real-time API". This law will take action in 2027.

Alarmed by such issues, I took a closer look at the bill. It calls for attestations of an "age signal" (like 18+) If done in a secure way, like via ZK proofs, then apps won't need to role or delegate solutions to collect our personal info. With proper ZK implementation, the only info that an app gets is a proof that this person is within some AGE RANGE, NOT the exact details. There's no mention about technical implementation, it mentions good faith attempts and OS / apps which won't be liable if the info is incorrect. Average exposure to porn is between 11-13. I wonder with the risk of KYC honeypots via non-standardized implementation and rampant underrage exposure to porn make this bill a reasonable tradeoff? x.com/i/grok/share/5…

🚨FYI: Gavin Newsom has already signed California Assembly Bill 1043 which mandates that operating systems including Windows, Linux, macOS, and FreeBSD implement system-level age (identity) verification. This takes effect on January 1st, 2027. Colorado also has a similar act called SB26-051 which is currently advancing through the committees and ready for full Senate consideration. It would come into effect on January 1st, 2028 if passed. Utah, Texas, Louisiana, and Alabama all currently have app layer verification laws, but not OS level YET. So OS level verification isn't a future thing. It's happening now. They are chokepointing the internet. Enjoy these days.
