@eldianangel "Oh we don't do that procedure here." "Why not? It's less invasive" "We don't have the machine" "It's right behind you" "We don't have anybody trained on it." "Why not?" Ended up operating on myself because they literally didn't want to do the less invasive procedure.

one time i went to the ER for an ovarian cyst that ruptured and the doctor wouldn’t give me an ultrasound bc he said “it’s too much radiation for your young uterus” and i said “ultrasounds don’t use radiation” he just.. walked away and didn’t come back until i called my mom

I'm not gonna lie, it is frustrating when you ask a patient what's wrong and they just give you a diagnosis. Like "I have a chest infection". OK, you're probably right but I need to know your symptoms to see if I agree with that diagnosis. I can't just take your word for it.

My PC kept randomly crashing, so I called Lenovo support, and somehow ended up with a privacy violation instead. The guy remote-accessed my computer, added himself on Steam, tried to add me on Discord (so I closed it), then pulled my number from their company data to call/text me from his personal phone. He also has my home address, and even messaged that he could come over and fix it. I didn’t ask for this. And I’m really tired of men getting my number without me ever giving it to them.

@elnakon @HanayagiKaoruk0 @Arin_Yumi You're talking about an economy you have no understanding of. You can't "pay natives more" to get them to do these jobs. The average Japanese person is fucking 50 years old

@HanayagiKaoruk0 @Arin_Yumi I'm not gonna humour the argument. You know why those wages don't go up? Because they are being filled by foreigners willing to do it for less. Pay natives more. Kick immigrants out. Hike the fee another 1000%

Once at my old job a coworker pointed out a rather gross old man and joked "that must be your dad!" Without missing a beat I said, "damn, he must have hopped right outta his grave!" Coworkers face fell at once. I started laughing. He started laughing and said, "you're just kidding then, right? Your dad isn't dead?" "Oh no, he's very much dead." His face was a mixture of horror and regret that I still find rather comical.

@colinwalker79 Short answer - yes. Obviously. Only someone with a malformed brain could say that more of something is not actually more of something. Its like claiming black is white with a straight face. And quoting an ideologically captured university as though QED is ridiculous.

It's because you're NOT FLIRTING OR SEXUALIZING IN AN ATTRACTIVE WAY This is one of the biggest if not THE most common problem among men in dating They are terrified to rock the boat because they have no other women they're meeting So they play it uber safe And get punished for it over and over again How do I know this? Because I was the KING of receiving "i didnt feel the chemistry" texts So I made it my life's mission to solve it 1) Make sure your pipeline is full so you're not terrified to make moves 2) Confidently flirt, tease, and make moves on the girl In fact This is what I tell my coaching clients who struggle with this "Try your hardest to flirt as much as you can to the point of where she says enough is enough" And guess what For the guys that struggle... Even with that instruction They never reach the point of having the girl boundary them on that It's because its so hard for them to do that even if they go all out on unleashing the flirting side in their mind They still will reach just the right amount So if you constantly get girls telling you they don't feel it You MUST flirt and bring in a sensual component to your interactions Or you will be doomed to the friend zone or "i didnt feel the chemistry" zone Worst place to be

Go to any “tourist-y” location in Tokyo these days and, depending on the day and time, you’re bound to find yourself stuck in pedestrian traffic jams and long cafe lines. That’s not true, however, of one intriguing tourist trap located near the Toyosu fish market (more below).

Takuma@Japan Career Coach 🇯🇵
If foreigner wants to work as a full-time employee in Japan, most companies expect you to have at least JLPT N2. Not N3, not “conversational Japanese” — N2 minimum. That’s reading business emails, understanding meetings, handling keigo (polite language), the whole thing. Some places are flexible if you’re in tech or English-teaching, but for regular corporate jobs? N2 is basically the gatekeeping standard. They need to know you can actually function in a Japanese workplace, not just survive daily life. It’s a high bar but makes sense when you think about how much of Japanese work culture relies on nuanced communication and unspoken context.

@TheMichaelPower @dostoevesque huge confusing mess for people who read YA maybe. It is large, but the books themselves are satisfying individually

@dostoevesque Haven’t read Malazan but isn’t it a huge confusing mess? I heard you won’t even understand what’s going on in book 1 until you finish the series and go back to it. Not “you’ll pick up on foreshadowing,” literal incomprehension.

No disrespect to George RR Martin, but if we're talking about the greatest fantasy authors right now, it has to be Steven Erikson and Robin Hobb. Not only are both exceptionally talented writers, but they also had the vision to plan their epic sagas and the discipline to see them through to completion. One crafted a history, magic system, and pantheon of gods with incredible depth, while the other built her legacy on an intense focus on a single, deeply flawed, and achingly real character. Malazan and Realm of the Elderlings are two epic series one can confidently invest their time in because they have a conclusion.
Syd Steyerhart@SydSteyerhart

GRRM is the greatest fantasy author alive today. His worlds are so complex that loreheads have been going for 20 years and the subject is still not exhausted. You only have to read any Sanderson slop to recognize how good GRRM really is. That's why it hurts that he isn't writing.

@Coppertouret @planefag I read YA when I was a child, you know, like the intended audience of the books. Being told to grow up by someone who reads books with training wheels well into adulthood is wild.

@andwhat009 @planefag Seems like you can't do much without the condescension, further illustrating my point. I'm just going off your words. You said you didn't read any other YA to compare it to. It's either the only YA you ever read, or you're full of shit and googled your response. Again: grow up.

@andwhat009 @planefag Yeah, you're not a serious person, but good job reinforcing that elitist mentality I originally commented on. You didn't read the books, but find some validation in shitting on something you're not even going to be the target audience for. Grow up, fella.

@andwhat009 @planefag Glazing? Don't be dramatic. I'll admit it's been 15 years since I read it, but the main plot ends, there's like 70 pages of wrapping everything up. So, what exactly did you not like?

@planefag What's with all the elitism in fiction? It's fucking make-believe. It's entertainment. It's not mean to to change your life. The Eragon series is fine, especially in YA. It has probably one of the most concise and rewarding conclusions in modern fantasy. People need to calm down.
