Howard is correct, tendons need to heal under appropriate mechanical load and in the right metabolic environment. Isometric, eccentric and concentric loading are important as is diet, sleep and other lifestyle measures Immobilization, NSAIDs and steroid shots are not helpful long term. At nearly 60 I can, jump, sprint, throw and generally be explosive in part because I take care of my tendons

I went from being a chronically homeless petty criminal for over 5 years to finding God, getting married, having a baby, owning multiple properties. Rags to riches, straight up. And for the lumpen types, I have genuinely valuable advice that many have successfully taken. I tried to end my own life more than once. Was drinking more than a handle a day, was a pro shoplifter, was blacking out and brawling with crust punks nightly for years halfway hoping to die, running state to state. I truly had no reason to be alive. If you want to talk about being "blackpilled," I was about as blackpilled as a guy can be. And I fought my way out of that, with a little help from the Catholic Church and the US Coast Guard, both of which taught me discipline. I'm still not good at it, but those lessons are the only reason I'm not drunk in a ditch somewhere tonight, or worse. Piece by piece, I went from no money, 13 cavities, and shaking if I didn't drink to where I'm at now -- with several years of expenses banked, two houses, a healthy baby, and an incredible wife. I won. What matters most to me are the guys who DM me every now and then -- some are depressed, some are suicidal, broke, nihilistic, stuck, and all of them ask: "what should I do?" I give them advice and many of them take it. Quite a few have reached out months later telling me they managed to build savings, leave mom's house, find work, travel the country, buy property, go to Church, and even find wives. I post for those guys and those guys only. If you're at the end of your rope, don't fucking think about suicide even for one second. Winning is 100x easier than you think it is right now, and sometimes you need a kick in the ass from someone who's been through it if you're going to get down the road to victory. If that's "performance art," so be it.

It’s the biggest update in over a decade because y’all asleep at the wheel. Some recommendations as a power user: - Allow permanent selection of dark mode - At the start of a journey is when you most need to know which direction to drive. google maps seems to love doing the 360 no scope spaz out immediately when you start driving. Maybe a loading spinner would be good if you're not ready to direct me - Stop changing my fucking route while I'm driving. The default should be to stick to the original route and recommend alt routes but not to auto-switch to them - When I search for a location that i have saved “hearted” with an associated name like “Dans house” consider displaying it when I search “Dans” - Same goes for locations i visit frequently that share names with more popular places but are hours away. If i search Stratford and i am constantly in and around east london don’t show me Stratford upon Avon. If i search “theatre” and i go to this specific theatre every week, maybe show me that one? - Fix your maps in portugal and spain they suck. Yes, the roads are designed poorly which makes it hard, but you could for example on the highway where they seem to love putting multiple exits within 50m of each other and nested exits and exits combined with on-ramps, mark exits that we should not take in red and the correct exits in green. - Another portuguese specific one here, but stop recommending a route that is 1 min faster that will literally break my car because it’s a completely unmaintained dirt road vs a smooth tarmac road. Same goes for recommended routes that are pitch black with no lights to save 1 min - Use your ai satellite api to show me pothole warnings, free parking spaces, spaces to park with shade. Shit, 5 mins before i arrive ask me if you should look for the best parking for me and let me opt in to reroute to it when you find it to finish my journey. Man so many missed opportunities over the past decade. Dm me for more feature requests.

Amazon is holding a mandatory meeting about AI breaking its systems. The official framing is "part of normal business." The briefing note describes a trend of incidents with "high blast radius" caused by "Gen-AI assisted changes" for which "best practices and safeguards are not yet fully established." Translation to human language: we gave AI to engineers and things keep breaking? The response for now? Junior and mid-level engineers can no longer push AI-assisted code without a senior signing off. AWS spent 13 hours recovering after its own AI coding tool, asked to make some changes, decided instead to delete and recreate the environment (the software equivalent of fixing a leaky tap by knocking down the wall). Amazon called that an "extremely limited event" (the affected tool served customers in mainland China).

I think about this back and forth with @benshapiro from 2018 a lot. The reason I loathe propaganda like “I regret having kids” is that you can’t know what you don’t know and there is no way to replicate having kids. Ben was right and I only know it because I had a child.
