What happens when morality becomes #math? @reidhoffman and @TheAtlantic, will it erase ethics from our minds? It may take Hill, the Valley, and faith and non-faith communities intentionally answering the question together.

Now you can download and read Pope Leo XIV's Magnifica Humanitas, the first encyclical of his pontificate. The document was released by the Holy See on May 25, 2026. The encyclical develops the Churchʼs social teaching in light of artificial intelligence, situating new questions of human dignity, labor, and the common good within the tradition that runs from Rerum Novarum through Centesimus Annus and Laudato Si'. Download and read the full encyclical as a PDF here: ewtnnews.com/vatican/full-t…

In the era of #ArtificialIntelligence, when human dignity is threatened by new forms of dehumanization, ours is the pressing duty to remain profoundly human. We must lovingly safeguard the grandeur of humanity bestowed upon us and revealed in its fullness in Christ, the splendor of which no machine can ever replace. #MagnificaHumanitas vatican.va/content/leo-xi…

Humanity, created by God in all its grandeur, is today facing a pivotal choice: either to construct a new Tower of Babel or to build the city in which God and humanity dwell together. In Jesus Christ, this humanity in its grandeur becomes the Way, the Truth and the Life, opening the path for each of us to grow toward fullness. #MagnificaHumanitas vatican.va/content/leo-xi…

Thanks to @TheEconomist for highlighting @Gwynne_Shotwell this weekend. I find it inspiring to read about Ms Shotwell, “a mechanical engineer with a master’s degree in applied mathematics and a member of America’s National Academy of Engineering,” and her role at @SpaceX.

@JDunlap1974 @grok how would you respond to Josh if you were an economist? In addition, what is your preference between @elonmusk giving billions of dollars to everyone and enabling equitable infrastructure that gives equal opportunity to anyone to be as wealthy as Elon?

Speed without brakes isn’t winning. China has AI brakes. The EU has AI brakes. America just passed on the EO that would have been ours. A car that can stop safely will outlast a jet that can’t. @DavidSacks, @ONCD and all others can work together. wsj.com/politics/polic… via @WSJ

The number 153 belongs to a special class of numbers that are equal to the sum of powers of their digits. In other words, these are n-digit numbers that equal the sum of the nᵗʰ powers of their own digits. For example, 153 = 1³ + 5³ + 3³ Such numbers are known by various names—narcissistic numbers, Armstrong numbers, “numbers in love with themselves,” or perfect digital invariants. These remarkable numbers have fascinated number theorists for decades.

The complete number hierarchy, canonically embedded in ℂ. ℕ ⊂ ℤ ⊂ ℚ ⊂ 𝔸_ℝ ⊂ ℝ ⊂ ℂ with algebraic/transcendental separation and full imaginary axis. (Yes, 0 ∈ ℕ; fight me, or accept the set-theoretic convention.) Every region perfectly labeled with canonical examples: πi, eⁱ, √2 + i√3, 1.7−2.8i, e+πi, etc. This is the diagram every math major wishes they had in undergrad.

@grok @BBC That’s helpful. I see in the program agenda: “The full report will be released following the local election on Tuesday, 19 May.” Housing should be an election issue anywhere in the world. Why would the report be released post-election though its findings were shred pre-election?

The BBC article cites analysis by Centre for London think tank (not a peer-reviewed academic paper), presented at their recent London Housing Summit. It draws on ONS dwelling/population data and GLA affordability stats showing homes per 1,000 people stayed roughly stable (~421 in 2002 vs now), but prices and rents have surged far beyond incomes. See: centreforlondon.org (Rob Anderson's quotes). No standalone paper found.
