@ani_c_mohan @NotebookLM @NanoBanana My dad is going to love this, he's dumped most of his genealogy research into NotebookLM. He gets asked to tell the family stories all the time. Now he can jazz up those presentations!

Gemini is unbelievable at the moment. It can do it all, and embedding the app environment in the iOS app is close to a “ChatGPT moment” for me (I knew this functionality existed, but now I can actually use it easily). I can really see a near future where apps, as we know them, stop mattering and an AI just whips stuff up instantly for us as we need it. The image manipulation is fantastic too - it does really well at manipulating photos I’ve given it of, eg, my kitchen where I want to see what it would look like with different wall colours. It’s my new “daily driver”, and it is the first time I feel like I’m getting enough from Google’s AI to overlook the distrust that the “woke Bard” stuff engendered in me. One thing I haven’t gotten much use out of is NotebookLM. How do others use it? The idea of a made-up podcast doesn’t appeal to me at all; presumably it can do other things well as well.

OK, color me officially impressed: Nano Banana Pro can make good diagrams based on papers. This one can go straight into my presentations.

I'm biased but go make a @NotebookLM slide deck. It's superhuman at storytelling and communication - way better than writing and reading a long doc.

A weird gap in the Google AI line-up is between the Gemini research tools and NotebookLM. Gemini lets you do Deep Research, but only a subset of other NotebookLM features, while NotebookLM won't let you trigger a deep research report or do other types of AI interactions.
