Running a VC fund as a solo GP is no joke. You’ll face frustration, shed tears along the way, and still push forward.

@jasonlk I see many funds report IRR as “too early” in their LP letters in the first few years. Educated LPs understand the J-Curve. Why highlight a TVPI >1, but leave out the negative IRR that (hopefully) improves over time? Transparency is appreciated by LPs.

One thing we are seeing in venture that we haven’t seen in a long-time are Good Old Fashioned J-Curves What a J-Curve? It’s when in the early years of a new VC fund the returns are actually >negative<

@sairarahman Plan for some side dishes & desserts that you can prep the day before (and can just reheat on the day if they are hot). Such as potatoes au gratin, compound butter for rolls/baguette, salad dressings, pies.

I think a VC whose platform value prop is they just help you find talented & diverse engineers and engineering management would do so well I could see companies making space on cap table to ensure they can hire A+ engineers right away

VCs, is it standard to offer limited partners a discounted management fee for participating in the first close? Had not heard of this. From Tiger LP letter: "Investors in the first close will receive a discounted management fee of 1.75%."
