Pakistan Air Force and the brief affair with MiG-29 & Su-27 A short 🧵 based on “The Story of the Pakistan Air Force 1988-1998” and own notes. During 1988, the Pakistan Air Force was operating 332 fighter aircraft. Out of these, 179 were F-6s which were nearing their service life and which PAF had planned to retire by 1995. This necessitated a Force Structure Review during 1988, according to which PAF had planned to induct an additional 71 F-16s and 95 F-7s. This would have allowed PAF to have a hi-tech element of more than 100 F-16s backed by up to 135 F-7s (as replacement of F-6s) and a small fleet of Mirage-III/Vs. (1/n)

As a run up to the International Day of Yoga 2026, INS Satvahana conducted a unique session of Underwater Yoga on 20 Jun 26. The event had 40 participants from the unit, who demonstrated remarkable breath control, concentration, endurance and composure while performing a series of synchronised yoga postures beneath the water surface. The event seamlessly blended the ancient wisdom and patience of yoga with the demanding underwater environment, highlighting the importance of physical fitness, mental resilience, emotional balance and operational readiness. Through this innovative initiative, participants experienced firsthand how controlled breathing, mindfulness and discipline can enhance performance in challenging conditions. The event was conducted by in-house Naval Yoga practitioners and led by Lt Cdr Aarush Sharma. @mg19762 It is not a barrel roll. Low level aerobatics are a thing, but this is an issue of risk vs utility. “Buzz-the-tower” type antics are frowned upon. “A superior pilot uses his superior judgment to avoid situations which require use of his superior skill’.
