You know how reporters are supposed to be objective? I feel like given the quotations and structure of this paragraph, this reporter had some opinions.

@anatolycorp The real work is in deciding what not to put on the slides, ja? Because if not cluttered I feel like applying a design theme is easy enough. It’s the thought (and math) behind the key supporting points that makes a pitch like this come to life.

CA tax fun: if you take a cold food item from restaurant to go that is cold, it is not subject to sales tax. Soda is taxed regardless. If you’re in SF, you are subject to the sugary beverages tax. (Doesn’t apply to diet drinks.) This is why SF Costco doesn’t serve coke. Sugary beverage tax would blow up the economics of $1.50 hot dog and soda deal. If it is hot and you take it to go, sales tax applies. Except coffee. It applies regardless if eat in. Not sure if toasted bagel counts, but it should. My bagel place treats it the same (not taxed) regardless. There are a bunch of other restrictions and thresholds. I’m guessing perfect compliance <10%. Doubt most mPOS support this level of complexity. @bgedelman

I am smart enough, but not even close to top tier smart. I would argue maybe one step above average. But I am curious and lucky to have lots of extremely smart friends that teach me all sorts of things, IRL and here on X. It's probably the best outcome I could have hoped for. Thank you friends!

@sudbalaji @DissidentClint It’d be great if there was a way for companies to buy some sort of insurance to backstop this so more could offer lifetime guarantees if they desired

@DissidentClint makes sense, though I'd be very very suspect of any lifetime warranty from a company that has not been around very long

@minty_hawk Hasn’t every state that tried this experiment in wishful thinking ultimately seen tax revenue decrease? Unless a truly insightful justification provided for why those cases unlike present I don’t see why anyone should expect anything different.

@StewartalsopIII I used both for a long time, then in Q1 found myself using CC more and my workflow orienting towards it. Now I’m wondering how to get myself to agnostic state so I’m able to use whatever.

The main reason I think, it’s all the space will occupy on the kitchen. That can be the space for the pantry, or double oven cabinet. Honestly it’s a good idea for whoever uses that a lot. I have never used my dishwasher, Also, the controls for the DW are on top, not in the front,

There are some really niche VC funds out there... Thinking about how when I started raising a fintech fund in 2016 I got no's from LP's who thought fintech was too small a category... What are some other niche VC funds?

TIL that there is a US-based VC fund that invests exclusively in wildfire tech (preventing forest fires). Exclusively that. US TAM is something else:)

the venture capital bloodbath is coming and most vcs have zero idea agents will replace 90% of what associates and principals actually do: • deal sourcing through network analysis • due diligence via automated data mining • portfolio monitoring with real-time metrics • pattern matching across 10,000x more deals what exactly are you getting paid for when an agent can analyze every startup in your sector in 3 minutes? the entire industry is built on information asymmetry that ai just eliminated most funds will become algorithmic within 24 months the only vcs who survive are the ones who can actually build companies, not just write checks and send intros

@StewartalsopIII The island is in shallow bay surrounded by enemies. It’s closest to oil fields so cheapest option to set up deep water ports. Logistically and defensively major single point of failure for getting oil out. But they can still mess up everyone else’s operations too b/c of strait.

Stewart Alsop - Host of Crazy Wisdom Radio Show
I finally got a cogent rationale from a friend who supports Trump still on why this war makes sense at least at the great game level of Real Politik instead of what I've got so far which is of the "shut up you idiot/traitor/retard" variety, to this day not very convincing even though it is reached for so commonly This rationale was: 1. Its now or never, certain geopolitical sails are leading towards US having less power over time, so this needs to be done to show China who is boss 2. Trump is pumping drones into Taiwan (still verifiying but it seems Trump is actually sending less drones to Taiwan because they are going to Iran) 3. Even though we are headed for the worst oil shock EVER, its OK because US can put a total ban on US exports of oil, which Americans will support because at least it helps us lower the prices While more cogent, it does not convince me I still think none of these things lead to more national security and it was a war without a casus belli, no real identifiable strategic goals I know many of you support him silently, can you make it less silent in the comments? I won't get personal, I'm purely trying to understand the other point of view here
