Charles is a great bullshitter. If I had more time I would go through a lot of his videos and explain the tactics he uses. Even though imagine others have in the past. He finds commonly agreed upon problems with the Web, financial system, culture, government, etc. Then highlights them to make the case for “why Cardano” - But the average person doesn’t realize most of the issues he raises - Cardano by itself can’t solve. It would require a host of external systems that introduce their own problems with complexity, scale, security, decentralization, etc. He’s doing this now with Midnight. So people resonate with the commonly agreed upon problem (government overreach, censorship, data privacy, money printing, etc) - and he capitalizes on the emotional charge of these issues by highlighting them as the problem and Cardano as the solution. He also does a great job guilt tripping the holders into going along with whatever he says. “Some of you are just here for money. And I’m here to change the world and make the world a better place.” Convincing people that in order to see a better world in the future - they need to keep supporting Charles. He also fear mongers a lot about the potential for a dystopian technocratic future. While positioning himself as the only person on Earth standing in between freedom and tyranny. Again playing on people’s emotions and fears. If the holders believe they are contributing to a broader mission to save the world from tyranny. They are more likely to stick it out long term. If they just objectively look at it as a tech investment. They’ll be quicker to question, critique, or push back when they see red flags. So Charles frames things in a way that causes people to suspend objectivity in order to achieve the broader mission of saving the world from a dystopian future.

this narrative by influencers that "drama" can affect a blockchain is some of the most braindead shit you'll see on this app. if a chain can be affected by drama, it should die. blockchains are adversarial, PvP, you cannot "good vibe" your way to a useful chain.

I don't blame anyone for losing faith. I look at what is possible but I admit that there are many possibilities that never materialize. I've made investments in other projects that have entirely disappeared. My perspective changes daily based on new information. Right now the information I see around Cardano is very encouraging long term, if development is ramped up and new utility is created. We can expect at least 1 HFC event this year, possibly two. The second HFC event should bring us Ouroboros Leios and that will fundamentally change the value proposition. Here are a list CIPs and what they will bring: CIP-164 — Leios throughput scaling; CIP-113 — programmable tokens / programmable NFTs; CIP-118 — nested transactions / intents; CIP-159 — account address enhancement; CIP-160 — protected receiving scripts; CIP-153 — first-class multi-asset Plutus value; CIP-170 — KERI-backed metadata attestations; CIP-171 — on-chain smart contract bytecode verification; CIP-381 — Plutus support for BLS12-381 cryptography. Together, these CIPs would move Cardano from a highly principled but still maturing smart-contract chain into a faster, more usable, more programmable, and more institution-grade platform where assets can carry rules, transactions can feel seamless, contracts can be safer, and real-world identity/provenance use cases become much easier to build.
