@9mmsmg We have a government that has politically appointed bishops in flowing black robes that interpret our national sacred scripture on our own dignity. Ones that are continually corrupted and still assign more rights to personhood of corporations than to the unborn Secularism.

Bezos built Amazon employing millions and paying billions in taxes while you’ve never created shit except 50 years of failed communist wet dreams. Stealing his wealth for your $12k bribes, freebies, and teacher payoffs won’t fix shit, it’ll just bankrupt innovation and leave everyone poorer. Keep simping for confiscation, you disgusting commie grifter.

Mr. Bezos: Let's have that debate. Under my 5% billionaires wealth tax, we'd: -Give $12K to a working family of 4 -Expand Medicare for dental, vision, hearing -Guarantee universal childcare -Raise starting teacher pay to $60K And you'd still be worth $269 billion after taxes.
More Perfect Union@MorePerfectUS

Jeff Bezos on CNBC: "If people want me to pay more billions, then let's have that debate, but don't pretend that that's gonna solve the problem. You could double the taxes I pay, and it's not gonna help that teacher in Queens.... Airbnb isn't causing high rents. What's really causing high rent is government intervention."

This is the entire Protestant playbook. Find a papal gesture you don’t like. Rip it from the entire framework of Catholic teaching. Pretend Catholics believe every personal action of a pope is infallible. Then declare victory over a doctrine nobody holds. Brilliant. No Catholic believes kissing a Quran means Islam is true. No Catholic believes every papal gesture is doctrine. No Catholic believes the pope is impeccable. So what exactly was refuted here? Not the papacy. Not apostolic succession. Not the Eucharist. Not the canon. Not the visible Church. And certainly not the fact that Protestantism has no principled way to tell us why its Bible has the correct table of contents. All this proves is that Protestants are very good at confusing a photo with an argument. You found an image you don’t like. Congratulations. Catholicism is still the historic Church, and Protestantism is still a 500-year-old interpretive free-for-all pretending to be "biblical Christianity."

“Libertarian Right - is the far right. Everything else is left. Which, just, makes you a commie.” It also apparently makes everyone who ever lived before the 18th century a Communist, too. Charlemagne? Heraclius? Cincinnatus? Frederick the Great? Shakespeare? All Communists. Literally indistinguishable from a blue haired woke liberal, actually. This is what happens when you try to reduce politics to economics. You end up constructing bullshit metaphysical assumptions about history and human nature.
Techrev@Techrev_9999

That's retarded. Reality - most places, and the real political spectrum? Libertarian Right - is the far right. Everything else is left. Which, just, makes you a commie. The Libertarian parties got taken over to various extents - by commies, too. Essentially, you're spewing commie propaganda.

The generational disconnect between asset prices and reality that exists between Boomers and Zoomers is insane. Case in point: A few months ago, the cheapest house for sale in my home town was a formerly abandoned cape cod home that was the site of a brutal unsolved murder 20 years ago. Someone had bought the husk, flipped it, and sold the thing for $320,000. That was your entry level home where I live, a literal haunted house. Americans over the age of 50 have no idea what “asset price inflation” does to younger generations. My parents constantly talk about their $150,000 home and their 2% mortgage when we discuss finances, and it just blows my mind that such a thing was ever even possible.

Wow that was some of the worst garbage I've ever seen Astonishingly lazy. It might be a perfect case study for the mind of the spiteful mutant turbolib I'm reminded of the King of France during the French Revolution: "Louis spent his last night calmly in the Temple prison. He awoke early, heard Mass, and received communion from his Irish confessor, Abbé Henry Essex Edgeworth de Firmont. He wrote his last will and testament and entrusted personal items (his seal to his son, his wedding ring to Marie Antoinette) to the priest. On the advice of his confessor, he avoided a highly emotional final meeting with his wife and children to spare them further suffering. Louis showed remarkable dignity and firmness, which surprised even his executioners. He removed his coat and cravat, had his hair cut, and allowed his hands to be bound with his own handkerchief (after initially resisting rope, persuaded by the priest who reminded him of Christ’s sacrifice). He walked firmly across the scaffold. According to the most detailed contemporary account from Abbé Edgeworth, Louis silenced the drums with his presence and spoke in a loud, clear voice: “I die innocent of all the crimes laid to my charge; I pardon those who have occasioned my death; and I pray to God that the blood you are going to shed may never be visited on France.” As he was being strapped to the plank, he reportedly exclaimed: “My people, I die innocent!” And turning to the executioners: words affirming his innocence and expressing the hope that his blood would “cement the happiness of the French” (according to executioner Charles-Henri Sanson’s own account). -- Eric Kripke and his ilk are children of the French Revolution. They can't stand the idea of nobility or bravery, it disgusts them because it forces them to reflect on their multitude of inadequacies. They must create an imagined world where powerful men are as pathetic as themselves. This is mere wishcasting, dressed up in computer graphics and film. It's just like The Lord of the Flies, wherein the book depicts pathetic chaos ensuing after being removed from civilizing forces. But in reality, the event that inspired the book had the children cooperate and thrive until they were saved. This annoyed the author, so he rewrote reality itself. Wishcasting.
Julian II@JulianHeliosII

Alright let's sit down and finish The Goys with a bottle of sparkling to celebrate that I brought something beautiful into the world while Eric Kripke destroyed something beautiful

If you truly believe the Lord confers discernment; that is, the capacity to recognize objective truth. Why would you ever shrink from its unvarnished expression? Why would the social consequences attendant to such prompt you to silence?

8 weeks of maternity leave isn’t enough. Neither is 3 months, 6 months or 1 year. Attachment theory research shows that babies need their primary caregiver (most often mom) far longer than a few months, ideally for the first 3 years. Longer maternity leave leads to better mother-infant interactions which results in a more secure attachment at 24 months. Babies are so sensitive that even any mother-baby separation for more than a week (1 week!) under the age of 2 has been shown to predict higher child negativity at age 3 and higher aggression at both age 3 and age 5. You can never convince me that anything about women working corporate jobs is natural.

Presbyterians have historically supported established state churches. The only reason the American Presbyterians stopped supporting that is because they knew that, if America did have a state church, it would likely be Episcopalian and they'd just come to America to have the freedom to not be Episcopalian. But in principle, supporting established state churches remains essential to Presbyterian theology. Read Alexander Henderson and the Solemn League and Covenant. Also watch @matt_everhard's videos on the Scottish Covenanters which is where I first learned this several years ago

Your understanding of "politics" (which is essentially just an attempt to reduce everything to economics) and of the "Left-wing" will inevitably lead you to call every single person who lived before Adam Smith a "Left-wing communist". Charlemagne and Plato were communists according to your own definition. They're also somehow "Woke Right" too. If I wanted to listen to a take that blind to reality and history, I would just get into another internet fight with James Lindsay.

"Conservatives will hate this, but it may be the case that those traditional social expectations women faced back when they had much fewer options, may have actually been oppressive." Oppressive compared to what, exactly? Compared to the sovereign individual's desire to maximize nihilistic epicurean hedonism and minimize anything that might distract from that? Oppressive compared to being a total slave to endless dopamine hits? Almost every aspect of life that exists outside someone's air-conditioned bedroom with a steady internet connection and easy access to DoorDash is "oppressive" by that standard. Marriage itself is oppressive. Parenthood is definitely oppressive. Duty to one's parents is oppressive. Loyalty to one's nation is oppressive. Self-discipline is oppressive. Not turning into a fat, porn-addicted, consumerist loser who is a slave to one's base appetites at all times is "oppressive". It really isn't up for debate whether these things limit the mythic sovereign will that liberals constantly worship. Of course they do. The debate is whether those limits are necessary to bring about human flourishing and the continuity of civilization itself. Spoiler Alert: They are necessary. And the fact that the Liberal response to this revelation is "wow, I guess people never really wanted this to begin with" is proof of nothing more than the fact that Liberalism itself is an inherently anti-natalist, suicidal death cult that's obsessed with ensuring its adherents get to amuse themselves into exinction until they finally merge back into the collective consciousness that birthed them, because existence itself was too much of a burden to bother trying.
i/o@avidseries

This is a good description of our new reality: Under ideal financial circumstances, men will want marriage and a family; under similarly ideal circumstances, women won't. Does this reveal true preferences? Conservatives will hate this, but it may be the case that those traditional social expectations women faced back when they had much fewer options, may have actually been oppressive. And the evidence for this is that as soon as women are able to escape those expectations, they do — and we're seeing the result around the modernizing world in plummeting fertility rates.
