@amisinput I despise people like you who insult their “people” in public. Valid criticism is valid but insulting your own people shows you’re not worth an actual response.

BREAKING 🚨: U.S. Lawmaker Urges Full Recognition of Somaliland Following successful outreach from the Somaliland government, U.S. Representative John Rose (@RepJohnRose) has called on Washington to grant full recognition to Somaliland, praising the region’s stability, democratic institutions, and economic potential. The move comes after Somaliland’s diplomatic efforts showcased its ability to secure support across both the U.S. Congress and Senate, highlighting decades of effective governance despite lack of international recognition. Rose introduced the Somaliland Economic Access and Opportunity Act, which would open doors for Somaliland to access international banking and global markets. Somaliland declared independence from Somalia in 1991 and has maintained its own government, currency, and security forces, proving its capacity to operate as a sovereign state. Somaliland’s growing support in Washington follows Israel’s recent recognition, signaling a shift in international attitudes toward the breakaway region. Advocates argue that U.S. recognition would reward Somaliland’s proven stability and democratic record, strengthen regional security, and expand economic cooperation.

President of Somaliland Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi is expected to travel to Ethiopia in the coming days at the invitation of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, in what could mark a pivotal moment in regional diplomacy. Officials familiar with the discussions indicate that Ethiopia and the Republic of Somaliland are nearing completion of negotiations on a revamped memorandum of understanding, with a focus on deepening trade cooperation and securing long-sought maritime access for the landlocked state. Though neither side has publicly confirmed the details, the high-level visit has intensified expectations that a consequential announcement may be imminent.

Mr. President, you have achieved our ultimate objective of re-recognition in less than a year in office. You have elevated Somaliland from irrelevance to a position of central strategic importance in the region transforming it into one of the most consequential actors on the Horn of Africa’s geopolitical stage. There are already indications that further recognition is on the horizon. As the first to secure re-recognition, you have set a historic precedent, and there is little doubt you will continue this trajectory into a second term, inshallah.

It was an honor to have hosted you. Wishing you much success in improving Somaliland’s water infrastructure.
REPUBLIC OF SOMALILAND@RepOfSomaliland

Thank you, 🇮🇱Israel! The Republic of Somaliland welcomed home 25 water engineers this week after they completed a training program in Israel, a step officials say will bolster efforts to strengthen the country’s water sector. The program, supported by the Government of Israel, including @MASHAVisrael and @IsraelMFA, highlights a growing partnership focused on technical development and resource management. Officials noted that the engineers returned safely, with flights operating normally, countering some reports suggesting disruptions.

We welcome the introduction of the Somaliland Economic Access and Opportunity Act by @RepJohnRose, with support from @PatHarriganNC and @AndyOgles. This is a constructive step toward enhanced financial access, transparency, and stronger U.S.–Somaliland Partnership.

Historic moment: @RepJohnRose has introduced the Somaliland Economic Access and Opportunity Act in Congress. Thank you, Congressman Rose and cosponsors @PatHarriganNC and @AndyOgles, for recognizing that Somaliland's financial inclusion serves both our nations' economic and security interests. This is meaningful progress. What is the Somaliland Economic Access and Opportunity Act, introduced today by @RepJohnRose? Here's what this legislation does and why it matters for U.S.-Somaliland relations. The bill acknowledges a critical challenge: Somaliland faces significant barriers accessing U.S. and international financial systems– affecting consumer banking, trade, counterterrorism, and anti-money laundering efforts. These barriers impact our 6.2 million citizens and limit economic cooperation with strategic partners. The legislation directs the Treasury Secretary to submit a comprehensive report to Congress within 180 days analyzing: • Legal and regulatory barriers to financial access, including the SWIFT payment system • Compliance with international AML/CTF standards • Steps Somaliland can take to enhance transparency • How the U.S. can facilitate responsible financial engagement. Why this matters: The bill recognizes Somaliland's strategic position in the Horn of Africa and finds that "enhanced financial access, conducted under appropriate compliance safeguards, would serve to strengthen U.S. policy objectives in the region.” This is how security partnerships advance – through transparency, compliance, and mutual interest. Thank you again to @RepJohnRose and cosponsors @PatHarriganNC and @AndyOgles for this important step forward.

I genuinely thought this was AI, but Somalia is the gift that never stops giving. An all male group of AU peacekeepers enjoy an Iftar with female Somalian soldiers… 🤔.

🚨 BREAKING: U.S. Congress Introduces Landmark Bill to Integrate Somaliland Into Global Financial System 🇺🇸 In a significant geopolitical development, U.S. lawmakers have introduced new legislation aimed at ending Somaliland’s long standing financial isolation and unlocking direct access to the global economy. The bill calls for concrete steps to connect Somaliland to international banking infrastructure, including pathways toward SWIFT access for its population of over 6 million people. This marks one of the most serious policy shifts yet from Washington toward Somaliland. 🔹 Orders a 180 day U.S. Treasury strategy on enabling responsible American investment 🔹 Strengthens anti money laundering and counter terrorism cooperation 🔹 Positions Somaliland as a credible and strategic economic partner in the Horn of Africa For decades, Somaliland has maintained relative stability and self governance while remaining locked out of global financial systems. This legislation signals a growing recognition in Washington that engagement not isolation is the path forward. If advanced, the bill could unlock foreign investment expand trade channels and accelerate Somaliland’s emergence as a key economic gateway in the region.

Haji Musa Igarre: The Isaaq Leader Who Freed the Hawiye from Enslavement In the late 19th century, during the rule of Ali Yusuf Kenadid of Hobyo, Haber Gedir community faced oppression and forced servitude. Few remember, however, that their liberation came not from within, but from across the borders of British Somaliland led by an Isaaq man named Haji Musa Igarre. Musa Igarre, moved by kinship and justice, journeyed south to aid the Hawiye, who, like the Isaaq, belong to the wider Irir lineage. His intervention broke the chains of Majerteen domination, earning him deep reverence among the Hawiye clans. A contemporary poet from the Haber Gedir recorded the moment in verse: “If Kenadid makes no counterattack, Musa Igarre, you have saved the Hawiye from a calamity, and we will call you Father.” This historical episode stands as powerful testimony to the Isaaq tradition of courage and solidarity one that transcended clan divisions in defense of freedom and dignity.
