Judges and lawyers also attend each other’s functions like children’s marriages and retirement or elevation or designation parties. The test is to still remain independent despite doing so. It’s impractical to enforce such artificial separations!

Four hours at the Passport Office Mumbai @rpomumbai with my minor daughter for her passport renewal because the father’s signature isn’t there. FOUR HOURS of zero clarity, zero empathy, zero system. My child is hungry, exhausted, sitting on a plastic chair in a sea of chaos while officials keep sending us from one counter to another with no answers. Why is a single mother still treated like a suspicious exception instead of a parent? Why is a child being punished because the system cannot handle families that don’t fit a perfect template? Absolute humiliation, overcrowding, indifference, and no accountability. Passport Office Mumbai seriously needs to do better for single parents and children. This is really not a country for single mothers.

Prabhu you know generations of bureaucrats since 1947 worked for salaries well below private sector doles. Clubs provided them facilities for sports & reasonable meals. That also insulated them from dependence on moneyed class, which seeks their goodwill.

मैं आम तौर पर Supreme Court के judgement पर comment नहीं करता. जिसका case है वो बोलता है. पर अगर फैसला बेज़ुबान के खिलाफ हो तो उनकी आवाज़ तो उठानी पड़ेगी. Court का आज का order, practical नहीं है, inhuman है. कल रात जब मैं हैदराबाद से लौटा तो Delhi Airport के terminal पर तीन डॉगी को देखा. गर्मी थी. जब airport का exit gate खुलता था तो वहां से ठंडी हवा आती थी. वहां वो तीनों बड़े आराम से लेटे थे. सैकड़ों लोग वहां से आ जा रहे थे, लेकिन उन्हें कोई फर्क नहीं पड़ा. अब ऐसे dogs को public places से हटाने का क्या मतलब है? कोई उन्हें कल aggressive कहकर मार डालेगा तो इसकी ज़िम्मेदारी कौन लेगा? कौन सा dog aggressive है इसका फैसला कौन करेगा? इसलिए मुझे लगता है कि court का आज का order बेज़ुबान जानवरों पर ज़ुल्म का रास्ता खोलेगा. Maneka Gandhi का idea ठीक है. अगर dogs की आबादी को कम करना है तो रास्ता एक ही है- बड़े पैमाने पर नसबंदी की जानी चाहिए. अच्छा तो होगा कि court इस बारे में सरकारों को युद्धस्तर पर काम करने का आदेश दे. #StrayDogs #SupremeCourt

The strongest change in Uttar Pradesh is not visible in political speeches. It is visible in moments like this. A mother walks into Kavnagar police station seeking justice for her 14 year old daughter after an alleged molestation attempt at a grocery shop. And instead of being ignored, delayed, or pressured into silence, she sees immediate action. FIR registered. Names of accused made public. ACP Suryabali Maurya personally speaking on record. Police actively pursuing arrests. That speed itself is a statement. Because there was a time when such cases disappeared inside files before they ever reached the public eye. Victims were exhausted into silence and families lost faith in the system. Today the equation has changed. Under Yogi ji’s zero tolerance policy, the burden is shifting from the victim to the accused. The state machinery is no longer asking “why did she complain?” but “why has the accused not been arrested yet?” And that shift matters. It tells every parent in Uttar Pradesh that if their daughter faces injustice, the system will not abandon them. It will stand beside them and act.

Civil servants owe their primary allegiance to the Constitution, not personal faith. Transforming a public office into a religious space undermines the secular foundation of our bureaucracy. Personal rituals belong at home, not at the desk of a public official. A public office represents all citizens, regardless of faith. To see it treated as a private shrine is a step backward for Indian administrative standards. Professionalism demands a secular workplace.
