In 1983 I applied for a game design job at Coleco. They were kind of distracted because they were working on the Adam computer and the release of the Cabbage Patch dolls. Anyway they left me alone for three hours in their corporate lounge. In that lounge was a Dragon’s Lair arcade game - and it was FREE TO PLAY. So I spent all three hours plummeting its depths and can report that I’ve seen every way Dirk can die, and I’ve also bested it. So anyway it takes about 3 hours nonstop play to perfect yourself.

Be honest: who is old enough to say they played this?

Gavin Newsom’s latest scheme hits drivers with a $1,350/month VMT fee for 20 years on every new single-family home. They buried it in a housing bill—now costs are exploding.

@Kochara13 @luismbat That’s not how it’s going. Don’t need to oversell it, how it’s going is incredible, could show starship boosters being caught, synchronized falcon heavy boaters landing, starship soft water landings. Still much to be done before multiple starships on Mars.

In 2029, Apophis, a ~370m asteroid, will pass just ~31,000 km from Earth. That’s ~1/10 the distance to the Moon. Inside the orbit of geostationary satellites. Visible to the naked eye. Impact risk this time is low, but the flyby could shift its future trajectory. A direct hit would mean a ~1 km crater and regional devastation. That’s why becoming multiplanetary matters.

The one on the left was from Apollo 17 in 1972. The one on the right is from Artemis II in 2026. How is it possible that the one taken over 50 years ago looks better?

@CaptVanGarrett 日本ではMOが主流だったようです Zipも一定数は普及しましたがMOの方が多く普及しました。 CD-Rが出て、その役割は徐々に下がっていき、USBメモリーがある今は、光学ディスクも衰退していますね。

What about doubling taxes to non citizens / foreigners? Singapore does this. It would pay down the debt.

@JackPosobiec It is fascinating to watch conservatives complain about the personhood of the unborn while they actively fight to ensure those same children have zero rights or citizenship the moment they are actually born

Earlier today, two boys I didn’t know (roughly 12-13 years old) knocked on my front door. My house is about 200 yards off the road, so outside of deliveries we don’t see much front door action here. I answered, and one of the boys was bleeding from scrapes on hands, elbows and knees from falling off his bike. They asked if I had bandaids. Brought them inside, got them water, stuff to clean wounds, and patched him up. Offered to call his parents, drive them home, etc. They declined, thanked me and left. A few hours later, dad is banging on my door asking why I thought it was ok to let a child I didn’t know into my home. Motherfucker…why is your teenager not trained not to knock on strangers doors then go into their home if that’s your position? I sincerely can’t stand people. You can’t even be fucking human anymore. So demoralizing. Am I crazy?????

@IFlippedTheChip @blister @davepl1968 Seems weird that they’d show school children a replay of people dying. I don’t remember watching it at school but I do remember my dad getting home from work and watching it on the news.

99.9% of people who "experienced" the Challenger disaster saw it on replay and now remember it as live. Almost NO ONE was watching. Everyone thinks they were. It's a fascinating collective false memory.
Jeremy London@SirJeremyLondon

Anyone who experienced the Space Shuttle Challenger explosion, like I did, is probably a bit hesitant to get too excited about the Artemis II launch today. I truly hope our children don’t have to experience such tragedy. May the Universe welcome them and return them safely home 🙏

If we make immigration rarer, and get rid of unwanted immigrants, the pool of workers shrinks. This is unequivocably a good thing for the workers. It's well-proven historically. Look at what happened to wages and freedom and the rights of serfs after the Black Death came through. Other examples abound. A smaller labor pool makes workers richer. It's only bad for the richest among us, and they can survive it.

While we're discussing wildlife overpasses, let's discuss why they're important: They prevent ~97% of wildlife collisions They singlehandedly save wildlife populations (and migration patterns) They can save our country $10B per year BUT...they (should) cost $5-15M, not $100M
