@tiga_style I sense that you're correct but I can't explain why. Can you explain your reasoning? Thank for you the great content you post.

The perfect run distance is 6 miles (9.7km) or 45 minutes… whichever comes first. I don’t make the rules. Actually, I do. Pre-meet on deck tomorrow ahead of 800m & distance medley races this weekend.

@HunchBackMighty @rachaelbereba Interesting suggestions. Why muscle snatch (and not regular power snatch)? And why Zerchers (instead of another type of squat)? Thank you.

@RealMikeBoyle Great tip, thank you! How do you recommend estimating max heart rate? I miss your frequent postings on your old account before it was hacked. Great to see you back.

Want a better CV effect, get a heart rate monitor and rest based on HR not time. Much more accurate idea of what your recovery is. Time is arbitrary. The right length rest for you might be 2x (or 1/2) what someone else needs. Rest to 60% of your estimated max, then repeat.

@Meta_Trav Fantastic thread! How do endurance sports fit into this? And what about soccer being the most popular sport, even though it involves no throwing? Thanks again for your thoughts.

The Modern Male — Zero Contests The modern man does not contest. He has minimal physical dimorphism. Most men can't hold a room, tell a story, or command attention with their voice. For most men, what's left is a narrow application of engineering adaptations: highly specialized, sedentary work, with no influence, no capacity for violence. No intimidation. This is the reason why hypergamy has run amok. Men don't do any of the things to satisfy it. But most men are fine with it. Too scared to start a business. Too prideful to get in shape. Too worried about making anyone feel a negative emotion. They live in an extremely narrow version of what the male life is supposed to be, yet feel entitled to the spoils of their ancestors. Contest built everything masculine. Without it, you dissolve. Most men opted out entirely, then wonder why women don't choose them. They want the outcome without the process. Selection without dimorphism. Territory without defense. Contest comes first. Always.

3 contests built the male body over 2 million years. Throwing, engineering, and vocalization. Every male archetype in history traces back to one of them or their overlap. The soldier, the musician, the filmmaker, the pastor, the athlete. All variations on the same three contests between men. 🧵

Conscientiousness and agreeableness as "slow life history" strategy markers: underappreciated how much personality psychology and life history theory (r/K selection) are saying the same thing in different languages.

That’s a lot more work to get to the same HR/RPE. So enjoy it while it lasts, because eventually, “easy” isn’t really all that easy anymore.

If you’re looking to add biking to improve your aerobic capacity, you need to understand this: Your biking max HR is likely 10-15 bpm lower than running, which means your training zones are completely different. Here are mine after almost two years of training both:

@AJA_Cortes Do not stop 1-2 reps before failure, especially on exercises with maximal stability, and minimal CNS fatigue Otherwise carry on wasting your time in the gym Unfortunate.

Weighted pull ups. Just been an absolute staple in my programming for the last decade. Pull ups, rows and a deadlift variation. Imagine if you got stronger on the above over the next 5-10 years? The holy trinity for back development.
