You'll want to be sitting down for this bit. Water companies are currently £82.7 billion in debt, have paid themselves £85 billion in dividends, leak over a trillion of litres of water per year, dump sewage for almost 4 million hours per year, have been convicted of over 1,200 criminal acts since 1989 and an average of 35% of your bill goes on nothing but paying more interest and yet more dividends. And not a single company has ever lost their operating licence. 👇
Prem Sikka@premnsikka

Yorkshire Water and Northumbrian Water have nearly 200 criminal convictions between them. On 6 August 2024, Ofwat fined them £47m and £17m for sewage dumping. Fines not paid, will not be paid. Firms claim to have invested. No penalty for abusing laws leftfootforward.org/2026/01/public…

The next time some tells you that the regulators, the EA and Ofwat don't have the power call them out on it, it's a lie. One example right here... 👇👇👇 don't accept the lie, don't accept the fraud, enforce the law.
Friends of the River Wye@FriendsUpperWye

Environment Agency inaction is a national scandal. On the Wye and many other rivers agricultural pollution is the most significant factor in worsening water quality. When will the EA enforce the law and protect our rivers? @SaveTheWye @RiverActionUK @GeorgeMonbiot

"Thames Water investors say temporary nationalisation would slow its recovery." Thames Water still trying to bully tax payers and bill payers I see. Govt should hang up and tell them to clear off, there is no "market solution" to this mess. theguardian.com/business/2026/…

Ncuti Gatwa just said on SNL UK that "about 12 of you" watched Doctor Who and he doesn't understand the Billie Piper regeneration either. He's been quiet about the show for nearly a year. Last thing he said was that his body was tired. Last night was the first time he talked about the ratings, and he did it as a punchline, because what else can you do? RTD has multiple scripts for a Christmas special. The BBC production chief says "after that, it's time to work on it." No new Doctor announced. Disney money gone. Viewership at historic lows. The Gatwa era is already a cautionary tale. RTD came back, got a prestige deal, spent it on incel robots and drag queen villains, and now the franchise is on life support. Who do you think should take over as showrunner to fix this?

Ncuti Gatwa joked about his stint as #DoctorWho during his #SNLUK monologue: “I’ve had so many fantastic roles in my career. Millions of you watched me as Eric in ‘Sex Education,’ and then about 12 of you watched me in ‘Doctor Who.’ Maybe that’s why I kept crying." variety.com/2026/tv/global…

Western society is currently divided between people who know this is a man and are prepared to say so and those who know this is a man but lie out of obedience to an ideology. There is no third option. Literally nobody on earth thinks "Roxanne Tickle" is actually a woman.

“Don't swim' at 12 of 14 river bathing sites, as more locations announced.” Here’s something to wrap your head around. The only stretch of river graded as ‘Good’ is at Friars Meadow, Sudbury yet from 13th March to the 13th April Anglian Water dumped sewage into Friars Meadow nonstop 24 hours a day for 31 days straight. If you went swimming there during the Easter holidays you were probably swimming in human waste but none of it shows in the data because the EA don’t even bother testing until the middle of May. PS the EA don’t actually test any bathing site in the country for most of the year 7 and a half months in fact. You go swimming between 1st Oct one year and 15th May the next you’re on your own. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

🚨 FORMER BBC PRODUCER AVOIDS JAIL AFTER DOWNLOADING CHILD ABUSE AND CHILD RÀPE IMAGES ⚠️ DYLAN DAWES, 50 🌍 CARDIFF A former BBC producer has avoided prison after being convicted of downloading child abuse and child rape images. Dylan Dawes, 50, who began his career with the BBC in 2000, had over 6,000 indecent images of children on his devices when they were confiscated by police. Dawes refuted having a sexual interest in children and suggested that someone else might have used the devices, which were occasionally left overnight at the BBC's Cardiff HQ. In April, at Cardiff Crown Court, he was found guilty of three counts of possessing an indecent image of a child, and three counts of making an indecent image of a child, relating to more than 6,000 images discovered on his devices. On Thursday, at Newport Crown Court, Dawes received an 18-month prison sentence, suspended for two years. Judge Egan stated: "You have paid and you will continue to pay a heavy price for what you did. The public humiliation has been, and will continue to be, significant. The ball is now in your court to ensure that you stay out of trouble – I'm confident that you will." Judge Egan said Dawes had tried to point the finger at "anyone and everyone" who had access to the former BBC offices in Llandaff, casting doubt on many of his ex-colleagues. Dawes joined the BBC while residing in London in 2000 and began his role at BBC Wales after relocating to Cardiff in 2001, where he worked as a producer on radio shows and podcasts. The court was told that he was arrested in 2022 after police searched his Cardiff home, discovering indecent images on four devices, including a hard drive, laptop and two iPads. Dawes, who had worked alongside presenters such as Jason Mohammad and Rhod Gilbert, informed the court that he had "fairly regularly" viewed "adult pornography" but refuted any claims of downloading indecent images of children. The court was informed that he had "no idea" how the images were downloaded and denied using the search term "jailbait", suggesting that someone else might have accessed the devices. Harry Baker, prosecuting, stated that the images had been discovered on four of Dawes' devices and it was improbable that this was an "unhappy coincidence". Dawes, from Canton, Cardiff, was suspended from his role at the BBC following his arrest and is no longer employed by the broadcaster.

Yet another example of the big lie, Yorkshire Water's shareholders and not investing a penny over the next 5 years it's all coming from customers, funded directly from bill payers pockets. Next time someone tells you otherwise show them this.
IlkleyCleanRiver@CleanIlkley

@WaterUK @AnglianWater So @YorkshireWater business plan for this 5 years is entirely funded from customer bills and the illegal inter company loan repayment…except of course the massive accrued debt interest payments. Turns out we don’t need the ‘investment ‘ which is printing money for shareholders
