"Clearly government is now complicit in presiding over one of the greatest acts of criminality and lawbreaking that we’ve witnessed in the modern world in this country. The truth is, government needs to start bringing criminal charges against the executives and boards of those water companies that were knowingly, wilfully disregarding the law.”. The sewage scandal exposed in Channel 4’s Dirty Business relied on legal rights to obtain environmental information. Government reforms now under consideration could weaken those rights and make it harder to expose pollution in the future. @FishLegal_ the Angling Trust & @WindrushWasp have written to DEFRA today, read the statement: anglingtrust.net/2026/03/16/gov… #DirtyBusiness

Channel 4’s Dirty Business put the UK water industry under the spotlight — exposing the scale of sewage spills, questioning executive bonuses, and examining whether regulators did enough to hold companies accountable. Sir James Bevan served as Chief Executive of the Environment Agency from 2015 to 2023, during much of that period. Now, close to 3,000 people have signed a petition calling for his knighthood to be removed. Carly Hawridge says she felt “compelled” to launch the petition out of “complete disgust”, with Sir James Bevan “portrayed in the docudrama as a key figure in ignoring the detrimental environmental impact of sewage discharge into our rivers and possibly covering up such actions.” Petition link 👉 c.org/h4hmgj9B

So Thames Water is currently £20 billion in debt and turning that mess into a company that is £26.5 billion in debt we are being told, and are expected to believe, is rescuing it. It is nothing but brutalising customers even further and condemning them to even more decades of being fleeced by excessive interest payments. It's a shambles, govt needs to act. Now! ft.com/content/64a645…

Last year water companies sewage works illegally dumped sewage on 15,000 dry-days. Yep that's right, there was no rain, no snowmelt, nothing, no reason whatsoever why WCs should be dumping sewage. But where are the investigations, the prosecutions, the water industry fact cats going to jail? Yea, you already know the answer. thetimes.com/uk/environment…

Thames Water's fat cat crime boss Chris Weston refuses to meet with Basingstoke council leaders. Yep, that the kind of arrogance you get when you know you're never going to be investigated, know you're never going to be prosecuted, know you'll never be held to account. The water industry is nothing more than a criminal enterprise operating in a failed state. basingstokegazette.co.uk/news/25923388.…

@ProfessorBear65 @Mschatnoir I find that strange. I was at school during the Pertwee and Tom Baker years. The show was at its zenith it was family must see viewing everybody loved it. The decline came in the 1980s, which was when it really was ridiculed and despised and eventually cancelled.

I must be on another timeline. I remember being at school and I liked Dr Who, it was not considered cool at all..in-fact it was frowned upon. Star Wars was popular, not nerdy, Star Trek was thought of as nerdy. As we aged though, I remember we all kind of split into grungey kids into nirvana and pearl jam and all that and then the more ravers..dance stuff and we looked very different, they actively didn't like Nirvana etc.. but I see them as adults remembering fondly all this stuff..that I remember them not liking distinctly...

Many people are boycotting me after i said that children should not be exposed to movies or shows featuring LGBTQ themes. I argued that children should be raised according to “traditional values” and that adults should simply allow kids to enjoy their childhood as children.
