@LNER Yes I'm oerfectky aware of that! The question I asked is why LNER no longer thinks that people may leave to a destination and return on the same day. What's the reasoning behind this bizarre change?

@arkle1964 Hello, you should be able to just leave the return journey blank or on 'select return date'. ^Katie

@LNER Why don't the people designing the ticket alert part of your website not realise that people might want to return on the same day?

This is Walker Smith. After dedicating 17 years to Waitrose, he was recently dismissed. The reason? For attempting to stop a shoplifter nicking Easter eggs. Yes you read that right. He should be applauded, not sacked. Shameful @waitrose. Re-employ Walker Smith!

Walker Smith was sacked for trying to prevent a repeat shoplifter from stealing Easter eggs from a Waitrose Store. Smith had worked there for 17 years. Apparently stopping thieves is against company policy. As a former shopkeeper can I say that policy is insane. No wonder there were more than 500,000 recorded shoplifting offences last year but we all know it’s running into millions of thefts each year. Waitrose should take this have a go hero back pronto- but if not another retailer should snap him up. The CEO of Waitrose needs to review this bonkers stupid policy too- shoplifting is theft and must be stopped otherwise it will further spiral and it’s the ordinary customer who will pay with higher prices. Wake up Waitrose and smell the coffee- before someone nicks it!

This is disgusting. Waitrose has *sacked* a 54-year-old worker after 17 years of loyal service for stopping a shoplifter. This is exactly why good people don’t intervene anymore. Waitrose should be utterly ashamed of themselves.

I worked at ASDA for a year between 1992 and 1993 as part of my BA Hons. It was made clear when I started that you must see a shoplifter attempt not to pay. The Waitrose employee failed to do that.

@wonky222 @waitrose their excuse was that staff have been told not to stop shoplifters, even so they should not have sacked him, what a poor show from them! So every would be shoplifter now knows Waitrose is the place to go for free food!

A Waitrose employee of 17 years ( Walker Smith) was sacked after he stopped a shoplifter from running out with a big full of stolen Easter eggs in their Clapham Junction Branch! Well done @waitrose what true heroes you are you must be so proud!

Folks @marksandspencer rightly highlighted that they are sick of shoplifting & lawless people entering their stores assaulting & abusing their staff & @waitrose Conversely sacks one of its staff for confronting a shoplifter; What an Imbalance we have here between Two Supermarkets🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️
