@ThePhDPlace Because it shows that women have been writing and publishing about their roles in war for centuries but because they were excluded from academia, they were ignored. IOW, their stories are *everywhere* if we know where to look and what to look for.

Today we remember SPC Lori Piestewa who died OTD, 2003 in the early days of the Iraq War. She was the first female killed while serving in Iraq & the first Native American woman to die while serving on enemy soil.

I’ve been making a lot of content for the camera and clock app recently but I thought I’d drop this upcoming pitch event list here as well 🤓

@SketchesbyBoze This!!!!! My thought as I was reading it was, "Then you don't want to be a novelist..."

People will say, “I want to be a novelist but I don’t like reading books.” Or, “I want AI to generate my novels for me.” Consider that perhaps writing novels isn’t the career for you!

We have reviewed the grade appeal and decided in favor of your student. Their accommodations allow them to miss any class or assignment without letting you know why or within proximity of the actual due date. Just because it was due in February, doesn’t mean it isn’t excused.

@john_zeleznik It's not dead or dying, per se. Remember, the quest is based off the archetypical hero's jounery, which is an ancient idea and will likely always be around, even if it shifts and changes. As long as that archetype exists, any quest will resonante with people.

Do y’all think that the fantasy quest novel is kind of dead or dying? I feel like we’ve gone so far down the “political” fantasy and romantasy that no one is writing them anymore. Do you think people are looking for them anymore?

@dibert_aaron @PopCrave Even if were were to accept Ai, the fact that she passed it off as her own without disclosing she used Ai is a problem. It's the same as old-school plagiarizing. You need to give credit for something you didn't do on your own. Part of the larger issue is just that: she lied.

@PopCrave Genuine question, if the story is good and entertaining, why does it matter if AI helped write parts of it? Half the internet is already AI slop and people love it. Gatekeeping creativity in 2026 feels exhausting.

We should never forget the non-combatant victims of the First World War. This member of the Chinese Labour Corps, a long way from home, died early in 1919. Killed by unexploded ordnance he was clearing - or by the flu?

Hey folks, check out these flowers at the Shaw Memorial in Boston. They honor Col. Shaw and the brave Black soldiers of the 54th Massachusetts, who fought for freedom in the Civil War. American history shines with their courage—proud to remember!

Happy Rosie the Riveter day! Today honors the women who worked in factories, shipyards, and defense industries during World War II. My friend & mentor's mother took a job in the war industry because it paid better than most domestic jobs. I'm thinking of her today, especially!

In Maryland there was snow last week, freezing weather, a few tornados a couple days ago, and now it’s 70 degrees like summer. Make it make sense 😬😬
