Hi #ScienceTwitter! @zgitai1 and I are so excited to share our recent preprint with everyone! In this paper, we used a combination of imaging, sequencing, and culturing, and discovered that the skin surface is colonized by surprisingly few viable bacteria.

Important work from @BacteriaHunter : "the skin surface is colonized by far few viable bacteria than would be predicted by its levels of bacterial DNA. Instead, viable skin-associated bacteria are primarily present in hair follicles and other cutaneous invaginations."
