There are two categories of PhD programmes at NLSIU: The PhD (Law) programme enables candidates to pursue advanced research in their chosen areas of law. On the other hand, the PhD (Social Sciences, Humanities and Public Policy) programme is designed for scholars from social sciences, humanities and public policy backgrounds who wish to conduct research that cuts across disciplines.
Selected candidates will be offered a Doctoral Fellowship of Rs. 50,000 per month for up to three years from the date of their admission.

How will most passengers in a country like India know that an option like that exist (if at all @IndiGo6E is providing this for all cancellations now!)?

A friend got a message from @IndiGo6E saying their flight for tomorrow has been cancelled, even though they did a web check-in this evening. Out of curiosity, I checked the IndiGo site and found that tickets are still open on the same route ... and just look at the fares. So much for @PMOIndia “monitoring the situation.”

As a lawyer I spend a considerable amount of time bemoaning the heavy compliance layers business must navigate in India. “Ease of Doing Business” is a much used term in our regulatory/policy submissions. When you come across a situation as the tragic Goa Fire where so many people lost their lives you also realise that (a) Businesses - and here it is important (and unfortunate) to clarify- Indian businesses approach compliance with a staggering degree of casualness and apathy (b) Government, naturally cynical, believes (quite incorrectly) that only multiple compliance layers and criminal penal action for small infractions will suffice. All that this achieves unfortunately, again, is a robust cottage industry in evasion and corruption. We need to break this vicious cycle. I refuse to believe that businesses are inherently corrupt and intend to evade compliance. I also don’t believe that government wants to make every body’s life miserable. I can pretend I have answers, but I find I have some. I don’t however have a solution for how to impact and change attitudes and how to build a belief system that compliance benefits businesses.

I may not agree with all aspects of the working paper on #GenAI and #copyright, but I would definitely say that the paper is worth reading. Congratulations to the entire team. Truly hoping that the working paper will open up meaningful debates on balanced approaches to #IP.

After @IndiGo6E has arm twisted it in this fashion, the Indian government should now allow foreign aviation companies into the civil aviation sector in India where Indian aviation companies like @IndiGo6E and @airindia have now proven beyond any doubt they don’t deserve the benefit of protection and that they actually are beyond control or regulation. Let them compete or fold up. Regulate pricing, safety etc., to protect passenger and national interest. Let in the free market and sweep away these duopolist, rapacious robber barons. @narendramodi @MoCA_GoI

🎙️The National Law School of India University (#NLSIU), Bengaluru, in collaboration with the Rajiv K. Luthra Foundation (RKLF), organised the first Rajiv K. Luthra Memorial Lecture on November 29, 2025.
The event opened with welcome remarks by Prof. (Dr.) @krishnaswamysud, Vice-Chancellor, NLSIU. The inaugural lecture was delivered by Prof. Dev Gangjee, @UniofOxford on the topic “Tools or Partners? Hybrid Human–AI Creativity and the Boundaries of Copyright."
The lecture was followed by a discussion featuring Prof. Gangjee, @eashanghosh, National Law University Delhi (@NLUDofficial), and Dr. @arulscaria, Professor of Law, NLSIU. The session concluded with an engaging Q&A with the audience. The vote of thanks was delivered by Sidharth Chauhan, Assistant Professor of Law, NLSIU.
