When a scientist or an engineer earns a Ph.D., it is usually based on reproducible, verifiable outcomes drawn from the laws of the natural world.
When a social "scientist" earns a Ph.D. in a "social science," it is based on collating the written opinions of other "social scientists" into a heavily footnoted thesis, and those people who were footnoted earned THEIR Ph.D. based on collating the written opinions of other "social scientists" into a heavily footnoted thesis, and those people who were footnoted earned THEIR Ph.D. based on collating the written opinions of other "social scientists" into a heavily footnoted thesis, and so on, and so on.
A Ph.D. in science or engineering is based on the laws of the natural world.
A Ph.D. in any "social science" is based on regurgitating the writings of other people who never had to prove anything. A "social science" Ph.D. is an intellectual Ponzi scheme--one based largely on restating the (often mistaken) opinions of those who came before you as if their opinions were fact, but arranging those opinions in such a way as to create your own novel and equally untrustworthy opinion.
We are at a point in society where anyone with a Ph.D. in a non-scientific or non-engineering field is more untrustworthy than random people on the street.

NEW: Senator Chris Van Hollen's questioning of FBI Director Kash Patel completely backfires after he asked Patel about allegations of his drinking habits.
Van Hollen: "Multiple reports have alleged episodes of excessive drinking..."
Patel: "The only person that was slinging margaritas in El Salvador on the taxpayer dollar with a convicted gang-banging r*pist was you... The only person that ran up a $7000 bar tab in Washington D.C at the lobby bar was you."

People’s responses are less a criticism of you and your idea, but the exposure of our need to feel right, or demonstrate that we know better, and our need for recognition. We do so by nitpicking. We do this carelessly. We do this before fully digesting what someone said or considering what they truly mean. And even when we are correct, the nitpicking itself undermines it. 🤔

@aryeh That’s why I wrote “consume.” How can I make it more clear?

@MarinaMedvin Those that know, know. Those that don’t want to believe this, will never believe it.

@MaryBowdenMD @merissahansen17 @CocaCola If you’re seeing this now, it is probably spoiled- or practically past due. That labeling is only used for about a month Feb/March/april, in select markets.

@merissahansen17 @CocaCola First time I’ve ever seen this on my orange juice.

Bilingual label for orange juice… in a language understood by fewer than 1% of Americans?
@CocaCola this is so odd.

I introduced a constitutional amendment to end birthright citizenship. The 14th Amendment was never meant to reward illegal entry. Legal immigration built this country. Illegal immigration is being used to game the system. Only children of legal residents should receive automatic citizenship.

@CynicalPublius The irony that there’s all this disagreement with the Supreme Court of VA enforcing the intent of ballot to restore fairness.

RE: Gerrymandering
In case you missed it, the Virginia Supreme Court just invalidated the gerrymandering plan that Governor Abigail "The White Witch" Spanberger got the Commonwealth's voters to approve via disinformation, illegal procedures, stealth and confusing/misleading ballot initiative language.
Which is actually incredibly humorous.
You see, the rabidly anti-democratic nature of that Virginia plan motivated red states to do something similar, except legal.
Then, coincidentally, the US Supreme Court said that race-based legislative districts are unlawful, so now Southern red states are doing what Virginia wanted to do, except they are doing it legally and eliminating those unconstitutional, race-based districts that have been in place for decades.
Today, Virginia, who started all this nonsense, got their whole scheme demolished while the other states--who did what they did largely in response to Virginia--have their new plans legally in place.
All of this might have locked in the House for the GOP in the mid-terms.
The irony is glorious and the schadenfreude is delicious.
In other words, the whole sequence of events is ***schadenfreudelicious***!

ANOTHER MOSTLY PEACEFUL DAYTIME SLASHING IN THE DEADLY AND DANGEROUS NYC SUBWAY
It's a good time to remember that compared to 2019, the NYC subway murder rate is now 451% higher.
The assault rate has surged 129%, the rape rate is up 84%, robbery is up 25%, and overall violent crime is running 69% higher.
A system once sold as recovering has instead normalized levels of violence that would have been politically unimaginable just a few years ago.
Yet, the public is constantly told the system is safer than ever.
