You’re watching a game that took 2,000 people eight years to build. Some of them are still dealing with what it cost them. Red Dead Redemption 2 started production in 2010, right after the first game came out. Rockstar merged every studio it owned across five countries into one team. By the end, roughly 2,000 people had touched the project, and the budget landed somewhere between $370 million and $540 million, making it one of the most expensive entertainment products ever created. The numbers inside the game are hard to process. 300,000 individual animations (every hand movement, every horse gallop, every raindrop reaction). 500,000 lines of voiced dialogue spread across 1,200 actors. Recording those performances took 2,200 days in a motion capture studio, where actors wear sensor suits so their movements translate directly into the game. The main story script was about 2,000 pages. Dan Houser, Rockstar’s co-founder, said if you stacked every script in the game, including random people walking around town, the pile would be eight feet tall. Even background characters you’d never talk to had 80-page scripts each, about the length of a short film screenplay for a character with zero plot importance. The composer wrote 60 hours of original music. Most players hear about a third of it. The level of detail borders on insane. Horse testicles shrink when the weather gets cold. Your character gains weight if he eats too much, loses stamina if he doesn’t eat enough. Guns degrade without cleaning. Rockstar’s studio co-head Rob Nelson explained the logic: every tiny detail you don’t consciously notice makes you forget you’re inside a game. Stack enough of those moments and you get something no other studio has matched. That immersion had a price. In October 2018, Dan Houser told New York Magazine the team had been working “100-hour weeks” multiple times that year. He later clarified that was four senior writers over three weeks. But when Kotaku’s Jason Schreier interviewed 77 current and former Rockstar employees, the picture was wider. Nobody hit 100 hours, but many averaged 55 to 60 per week for months at a time. That’s six 10-hour days, often with weekend shifts too. Most were salaried with no overtime pay, their only extra compensation tied to year-end bonuses that depended on how well the game sold. Multiple developers described depression and anxiety during and after production. One told Kotaku they’d been “pushed further into depression and anxiety than I had ever been.” Others reported breakdowns and heavy drinking. Kotaku noted some of the worst stories couldn’t be published because the people involved would’ve been identifiable. The game made $725 million in three days, the second-biggest entertainment launch in history. It has now sold over 82 million copies, won more than 175 Game of the Year awards, and is the fourth best-selling video game ever made. Every frame of that clip was paid for, one way or another.

The founders who figure out OpenClaw in the next 90 days are going to look like geniuses in 2027. The problem is most agency owners don't have time to figure out the install, the security risks, where to start, or what to actually hand it first. So my team built a 48-page beginner's guide that does it for you. Inside: — The exact prompts to hand it on day one — Plain English setup for Mac and Windows — How to secure it so it doesn't burn your business down — 42 copy-paste workflows across sales, marketing, ops, and finance Your competitors are sleeping on this. Comment OPENCLAW and I'll send it.

"OpenClaw is the new computer." — Jensen Huang This is the early PC era all over again. A few power users see it. Everyone else hasn't even started. "It's the most popular open source project in the history of humanity, and it did so in just a few weeks. It exceeded what Linux did in 30 years." A solo founder with OpenClaw can now build what used to take a 50-person team. The leverage is absurd.

This is a true story. A professor in India's premier educational engineering institution caught a student cheating in the exams and suspended him. Next day morning, the boys father who was a senior bureaucrat landed at his home and requested that the matter be forgotten and closed. When the requests and pleadings failed, The professor was warned of consequences. The academic that he was, the professor stuck to his guns. The harassment started. Within a week an income tax notice was served on him seeking details of his foreign travels. A few days later, police landed up investigating a house purchased by the professor in his home town. Later the income tax investigated the sources of funds for that home. In the process of scrutiny, they questioned a few more 'source of funds'. For a professor working in a remote corner of India, this was all too much. He contemplated giving it all up and taking another job. The notices, hearings, responses and harassment continued for about 20 months. Luckily the professor was clean. His foreign travel was official. The house was in a new housing society set up by a group of academics. The management was supportive. 'For 20 months, they robbed me of my sleep', says the professor. On prodding if he would take a similar stand again, he painfully says 'I doubt'! If you indeed want to fight corruption, the starting point has to be the source of corruption - the discretionary powers, arbitrariness and their abuse. It is rampant and completely normal. Remove the discretionary powers and 98% honest people will not worry of harassment when they do what is right! @suchetadalal This story is being retold. Our education ecosystem is subsumed by corruption. And it is normal too..

That’s pretty disgraceful. In a democracy, screening a film is a reflection of our society’s freedom of expression and has nothing to do with government to government relations. This practice of banning films or books because of the offence they might cause to foreign countries must stop immediately. It’s unworthy of a mature democracy. #HindRajab

Algorand Foundation lays off a quarter of its staff. This is important context for #Cardano $ADA treasury spending. We must be very thoughtful now. 👇 Crypto is not the shiny new thing anymore and is facing a difficult period as many companies are pivoting to AI. GitHub commits are falling and the communities that still have developers have dwindling userbases. Data from Electric Capital and Artemis showing a 75% drop in weekly crypto code commits (from 850,000 to 210,000) and a 56% decline in active developers (from 8,700 to 4,600) since early 2025, attributing this to VC migration toward AI. Messari's recent announcement of a strategic pivot to AI, with CEO Eric Turner stepping down to align with evolving market demands, is another example. Blockchain is ultimately a "trust machine" and can be a bulwark against AI's trust-eroding effects. Cardano has unique strengths from bitcoin defi, which we are uniquely suited for to genuinely useful products and services via @MidnightNtwrk and the very needed lending and finance services @realfi_co are set to provide and are ideal for bear markets. We must act and spend accordingly as one community.

Algorand Foundation@AlgoFoundation

Today, the Algorand Foundation made the difficult decision to reduce our workforce by 25%. This decision was not taken lightly and is in response to the uncertain global macro environment as well as the broader downturn in crypto markets. These employees have been best-in-class contributors to this ecosystem and to the Foundation, and this was an incredibly tough decision. We are sincerely grateful to them, and we are, of course, committed to supporting them through this transition. We believe that we now have a more sustainable alignment of Algorand Foundation resources with the protocol’s long-term business, technology, and ecosystem priorities. We remain fully focused on our mission of financial empowerment and the continued development and growth of the Algorand protocol, network, and ecosystem.
