What we feared is happening ! And we MUST NOT allow it ! Tamil Nadu has reportedly lost the AMCA flight testing and integration project despite offering what the story itself describes as technically superior infrastructure conditions. The report clearly states that the previous government under former CM @MKStalin had been in talks with DRDO for three years to anchor the project in Hosur. The DMK government offered 100 acres free of cost and proposed a 3.5 km runway at Hosur airport, making it strategically closer to ADA Bengaluru. *Then what happened?* The story itself uses the phrase “political considerations”. !!! What political considerations? How can strategic national defence investments be decided on political grounds? This shift is grossly unfair to Tamil Nadu and deeply damaging to the credibility of cooperative #federalism. I took several meetings on this single project and our team worked extremely hard over the last 3 years for this project and it personally deeply hurts to see this crucial project being shifted. The present location is also not technically superior to the one that we offered in TN ! The union govt owes the people of Tamil Nadu an explanation. One should also understand that a change in government should not matter with projects of such importance especially when Tamil Nadu is known for its policy continuity ! Am sure that the present dispensation will ensure the same. Tamil Nadu cannot afford any drift at this moment.The state needs an agile and astute Minister for Industries immediately to aggressively pursue and protect strategic investments. I also request Honourable @CMOTamilnadu Thiru. C.Joseph Vijay to personally step in on this issue at the earliest ! He must urgently write to the @PMOIndia and Honourable Minister for Defence Thiru @rajnathsingh explaining our location, manpower and infrastructural superiority. Aviation expert including @Mohan_Rngnathan have warned against setting up Paranthur airport by destroying the water bodies. @krithikasivasw Yes, but he was against it from the beginning. If Parandur is cancelled the govt doesn't have an alternative site lined up but this will be a huge setback to the land grab mafia belonging to the Dravida echo system who have invested heavily in that area in hope of huge returns.

🔴 CM @TVKVijayHQ has paused the Parandur airport project- for now. Feels more like a delay to negotiate & build consensus with villagers before reviving it. Still, keeping such a strategically important project in abeyance is a major loss for #Chennai & Tamil Nadu. #Aviation

@saysatheesh I just googled this. If this gets scrapped, Meenambakkam will reach its limit by 2028. So he can’t scrap it. That would also push away a lot of cargo and investors, which would be a huge blow to TN. I still don’t understand why this person has made so many false promises.

I firmly believe that Hon'ble CM Vijay’s government will understand the importance of the new Parandur airport and reconsider its stance. It may be delayed, but I believe the project will eventually move forward. Let's wait and see 🤞

If you go with a new location it will take another 5-10 yrs to acquire the approvals alone and to start construction. Other cities would overtake Chennai by so much in the meantime. Parandur airport must happen. The fact that it is coming to a new place would expand the city with new IT corridors, metros and other connectivity. More jobs can be created. Deserving districts nearby Parandur such as Tiruvannamalai, Ranipet, vellore would benefit after the airport becomes operational. Airport not only carries passengers but it can handle a lot of cargo, agricultural products and other finished goods.

Parandur is the least worst location plus it's on the HSR which greatly expands its potential. Pretending the CMA has an alternative location is just naivety.

Chennai Parandur airport is vital to improving our global connectivity. Let the govt agressively complete the land acquisition by paying more if needed. We have a narrow window period before automation takes over. We should not waste it. @CMOTamilnadu @TVKVijayHQ
