I am sharing a long post by @KelkarSharad on how the Balbharti road will actually make traffic congestion worse and not better due to the proposed flyover and underpass on Senapati Bapat rd for entry/exit to the BB rd. What is important is that Mr. Kelkar used to be a staunch proponent of the road, who thought we, the 'environmentalists', were being unnecessarily obstructive to a potential traffic solution for Kothrud commuters. To his great credit, he reached out to us, tried to understand WHY we were opposing this road, and took the trouble to read the PMC's traffic data and the Detailed Project Report for the road. He is now a staunch opponent of the road. Full respect for those like Mr. Kelkar who are open to debate, willing to read objective data, and not afraid to let go of preconceived notions when faced with facts 🙏

They're literally putting out press releases showcasing the builder - politician - PMC nexus, so that it's right in our face PMC Commissioner and HODs of Road and Garden dept graced a tree plantation drive under the banner of Kumar Builders, while conveying that this is compensatory plantation for the 1000s of trees that will be cut for the Balbharati road on the other side of the hill. So - trees will be cut in an urban forest, open to the public, and plantation will be done in a 'garden' reservation' which can only be accessed by residents of the swanky township on Survey 44, belonging to Kumar Builders. 1/n

A bizarre story of a gangster is developing in Maharashtra. He has escaped to London on a fake passport despite being under police watch. Read on to know the suspicious role of the Fadnavis govt. Nilesh Ghaiwal is a well-known notorious gangster in Pune. He's been involved in murder, extortion, arms possession, and kidnapping. Last month, five members of the Ghaiwal gang were arrested for opening fire after a road rage incident. He is facing charges in the same incident, but when the police reached his residence, they found out that Ghaiwal has escaped to London. He forged the passport. How did he manage to escape the country with a fake passport when he was under police watch? However, the story gets murkier. Earlier this year, Nilesh Ghaiwal's brother, Sachin Ghaiwal had applied for a gun licence. Police rejected it citing safety issues, and Ghaiwal's history. However, the police decision was overruled after the intervention of the Minister of State for Home Yogesh Kadam.
