@hsu_steve Hasnt Open Source been 6 months behind for 1 year now (Deepseek R1). OAI, Claude seem to have done fine? Their customers haven't yet moved.

What is profit model for OAI and Anthropic with OS models only 3-6 months behind in quality and ~10x less inference cost? DS v4 architecture advances available to other OS frontier labs. Have we even seen engram memory yet?
Arthur Zucker@art_zucker

Reading @deepseek_ai 's v4 paper.... absolute hats off. Every problem has a mathematical solution, nothing is left to chance. I have so much respect for them, putting out months or years of efforts entirely for free, in the open for anyone to benefit. Real goats 🫡

@genocidalgirl Good thing that kid with the innertube backed off or else he'd most likely be dead too! That guy would have used HIM as a life preserver instead of the innertube.

@ripplebrain The RN is a shadow of its old self, true, but is the Argentinian military really up to snuff? From what I can see their decline might be even worse.

@Meow_Meow_2020 @przidnt1 He is way too militant about his China bias, delves into topics he doesn't understand, and plays barely audible audio of bible verses at the end of his videos. Weird.

@MazMHussain Pakistan didn't start threatening the US and more importantly Israel before they had built the bomb. And Paistan was sanctioned, only slowly and partially got out of it due to US needing help with Afghanistan again.

Iran reportedly has enough uranium at present (not just highly-enriched uranium) to build something from a few dozen up to 100 nuclear warheads; which would even exceed the size Israel's estimated nuclear arsenal. Pakistan developed and tested a nuclear weapon and was forgiven within a few years. Today, it is effectively integrated into the global economy while continuing to build the world's fastest growing tactical nuclear weapons arsenal and everyone just accepts this as a reality. Iran meanwhile never developed a nuclear weapon and continued adhering to the NPT and has instead been repeatedly attacked and sanctioned up to and including the most recent attempt at total regime change. There must be some lesson here.

@SIDPOV1 Immediate cause: No LNG due to Hormuz closure. Actual structural flaw: Electricity theft at national scale by 'aam aadmi'. And awaam's wish to be coddled by the Govt at all levels through subsidies. Govt hmain bhi paalay hmaari naslon ko bhi.

@Sooba_Hazara_ Because Pakistanis (south asians in general) are a less capable people, especially in modern warfighting. The Army is the strongest institution in Pak but it has failed to solve the KPK or BLA insurgents for decades. Politicians would be worse.

@Based_Mr_L Idk how true this story is, but I do know that a lot of 3rd world admiration of Hitler comes from admiration of nationalism. People see Hitler as someone who rapidly made Germany powerful, and fought the colonial powers that were occupying them.

@mister_red90 @Chaudhry_CEE The pic shows former Pak PM Bhutto with a banner stating the (Global) East is (politically) Left. However Bhutto's and others' actions caused East Pakistan to secede and become Bangladesh, i.e. East (Pakistan) left (West Pakistan).

Haha this is so good we might get fuk all from this but for now enjoy. Ideally Pakistan needs economic deals not weapons. Trade deal negotiations would be a good start. I’m not an economics guy so can’t say specifics. Pakistan is pretty secure in terms of military hardware.

I like that in Sufi Islam, the devil, Iblis, is constantly crying; he literally cannot stop crying, even going blind on certain holy dates from weeping. It’s a more beautiful image than the devil as some caricaturish, indifferent evil.

Unreal... The sheer chutzpah of calling China an "unreliable global partner" in this context when you're the ones who caused the disruption. Like a pyromaniac lecturing someone for buying too many fire extinguishers during a fire they started.
Reuters@Reuters

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said China had been an unreliable global partner during the Middle East war by hoarding oil supplies and limiting exports ‌of some goods, mirroring its actions with medical goods during the COVID-19 pandemic reut.rs/4tRuUvZ

@sergeslothrop @haravayin_hogh We can keep running in circles forever my dude. Ukrainian ISR, funding and manufacturing through NATO didn't come online until Ukraine had shown that they could stop Russia and Russia had shown they had botched the invasion.

@away_throw17233 @haravayin_hogh This is a unique war because Russia cannot strike the sources of Ukraine's funding, ISR and manufacturing which are all outside Ukraine. Ukraine simply supplies the human capital

Impotency of the US/Israel to achieve any goals in their Iran War alters how to see Russia-Ukraine. Revolution in cheap drones/missiles allows any middle-power to viably fend off conventional invasion. It may not so much the Russian army is trash as they just hit that wall first.

@sergeslothrop @haravayin_hogh But it's alright, I don't particularly disparage Russia for it. I think this would have been the result with any other military too, except the US which just shows how lopsidedly good they became at waging war.

@sergeslothrop @haravayin_hogh No it's not. You people tend to forget the humoungous size difference between Russia and Ukraine. The fact that Ukraine survived Russia's attack, then rapidly gained back territory and actually mounted an offensive shows the Russian military's failure to do the job.
