@doctor_oxford Our daughter was being treated for neonatal diabetes at 2 months old and a new insulin regime was incorrectly monitored in the ward. If we hadn't forcefully intervened to test her blood glucose, she could have suffered brain damage or worse. We are forever thankful we took notice

I am so terribly sorry she was failed so badly & hope beyond measure that the trust has genuinely made things safer for future children and parents.

Please, everyone, if you read one thing this weekend make it this. Thank you @meropemills for sharing the heartbreaking story of how the NHS failed your beloved daughter Martha. As a doctor, it is deeply painful to read, but every word so vitally important.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2…

I have just lost my wedding ring - in Buxton Derbyshire - just after giving a talk this afternoon - dropped I think on St John’s rd - if anyone finds it I would be so grateful - it is an old gold ring with a cross on the face. V embarrassed + grateful for RTs.

@IanDunt The cynic in me would say they were holding off the package until this report was released.

@basstard0 Jonathon Gullis. Seen him defending Boris all over the news. Looks like he lacks a brain cell or two

This cannot be said enough. Not getting a vaccine is not a "personal choice". This isn't personal. Not wearing sunscreen in a heatwave is *personal*. Not getting a vaccine in a pandemic is inherently *social*. Ultimately it comes down to: do you care about other people or not?

@OllieHolt22 Got to the final of a major tournament and lost on penalties and we are calling for the manager to be sacked. People need to get a grip. We can only get better.

I see the appetite to anoint someone a scapegoat - one of our least appealing traditions - is undimmed. People calling for a manager to be sacked who has just led England to their first ever European Championship final is fickle, pathetic, predictable and stupid in equal measure

@OwenJones84 @PHE_uk Agreed. I get the impression people are getting the vaccines mixed up. Trial data for Pfizer (taken by most <40) was 95% effective after 3 weeks between 1st/2nd dose. AZ most effective >8 weeks between doses.

You are now eligible to get a PCR test if you’ve been in contact with someone who’s tested positive - even if you don't have symptoms. Which seems sensible if there is spare capacity for tests (which there currently is) gov.uk/get-coronaviru…

@dlknowles @IanDunt Correct me if I'm wrong but you're forgetting about the escalation in testing as part of project moonshot - perhaps that is factored into the figures?

@KP24 We aren't going to reduce the high number of deaths with positivity. Minimize contacts, stop the spread of the virus and TTI then becomes an effective tool.

@JeremyVineOn5 @OwenJones84 Since when did targets matter to this government? They will just spin it to say we are now testing more than other countries.

Should Health Secretary Matt Hancock quit if his target for testing people for the coronavirus is missed? On 2nd April, he promised 100,000 tests per day. If that number can't be met by Thursday, does he have to go? #JeremyVine

As a frontline doctor in London - you really really need to take this seriously - it is bad - it is really bad - already - and it’s predicted to be worse by next weekend - too many people really don’t get it yet - stay indoors!! Seriously! #FlattenTheCurve #COVID19 @doctor_oxford

@newscientist Why not strictly say that you have to assume that everyone you meet is infected, as most could be asymptosmatic?

PV: Unless everybody follows the measures introduced by the government, it won’t work. Young people can’t ignore it. Mixing in pubs is an important part of spread and it needs to stop among young and older people.

The businesses can stay open and therefore need our support but if we go out we're irresponsible and it will be our fault that our family dies. It's the most Tory thing to have ever Toried.
