Was a bit optimistic here, did not think we'd run into a situation so soon where miners and subnet owners disagree causing the miner to leave the ecosystem. The centralized authority of subnet owners is worrisome.

@KyleSamani @Jason If a subnet or miner becomes successful what incentives them to stay in the Tao ecosystem?

I use drift almost exclusively for my perp trading, actually really like the project. However, unless they clearly communicate how the token attracts value I don't see it as an attractive investment just yet. Crazy that Hype which is much more successfuly is still putting in more effort in this regard. This is common in Solana Defi though and probably why the valuations are so bad, even though ecosystem has the best tech.

Very brilliant article @chamath .The thought of the demise of growth investing is kind of bothersome(specifically re: my bags), so I’d like to offer a few counterpoints. (1) AI may not destroy competitive advantages as much as concentrate them. Large companies possess significant moats that may actually be amplified by AI, including: -massive compute infrastructure -global distribution networks with strong network effects -private data -large free cash flow that allows them to reinvest aggressively These advantages mean that instead of capital fleeing and a large 75% drawdown, it might just concentrate even more heavily into dominant companies within the S&P 500. (2) AI may extend the duration of cash flows in industries that combine intelligence with physical innovation. Breakthroughs in pharmaceuticals, robotics, genetics, and materials science are increasingly driven by AI breaktrhroughts. However, the commercialization of these breakthroughs still depends on physical manufacturing, regulatory approval, and infrastructure buildout, which are much slower cycles. This combination of AI-driven discovery and physical-world deployment could actually create longer and more defensible profit streams. TLDR I hope your for the most part wrong, just some of my thoughts :)

ChatGPT 5.2 is so good in terms of reasoning, intelligence, context, conversational memory etc but it is godawful at creative writing (bullet points for everything!) and for nice UX (good charts, images, creative design). We need something that creates intelligence with UX flair.

Wow. TIL Tether is not actually 1:1 backed with USD or USD equivalent (eg US t-bills). 30B of the 174B of supply/liabilities is actually just gold + BTC. See The Black Swan. Disingenuous financial engineering behind the scenes always leads to disaster.

Fear & Greed Index: 11 (Extreme Fear) Today’s reading marks one of the lowest sentiment prints of the year. For context: yesterday was 15, last week 22, and last month 33. This pullback comes after a yearly high of 88 (Extreme Greed) in November 2024 and a yearly low of 15 earlier this March. The index has now revisited (and broken below) that lower bound. Historically, extreme fear clusters tend to form near areas of structural uncertainty, forced selling, or macro pressure, but they’ve also often preceded periods of asymmetric opportunity. Sentiment is cyclical. Extremes rarely sustain. Worth paying attention to what the market is saying, not just what it’s doing.

@ssaintleger According to Defi Lama, Celestia fee's are like $200 per day...think this is why the market is pricing it lower

tia crashed from ≈$1.5 to below $1 on 10/10 meanwhile activity has picked up meaningfully and price has remained around ≈$1 if the bull continues i expect tia to make a solid recovery from here (with technical improvements for high performance chains and bullet/payy/noble on the horizon). how high it can go is anyone's guess if we enter a bear, i don't expect the price to fall by all that much. there are no sellers left in other words it's a somewhat risky but v clear asymmetric bet

Today is the second anniversary of Celestia's mainnet. Two years' worth of iterations, learnings, ups and downs, and thousands upon thousands of Git commits. When you're building something new, you can get some things right, but you also get a lot wrong. We certainly did. I've been working on Celestia for 6 years, and have been in crypto for 15 years. I've seen the industry evolve and mature over time, from the early cypherpunk days in 2010, to the ICO craze in 2017 where everyone believed that Web3 will entirely replace Web2 and we're going to put everything on chain, to today: a more matured perspective on where blockchains actually have product-market fit. Similarly, Celestia also launched with a "build whatever" mindset, trying to be something to everyone, without a clear focus on what kind of chains people were actually going to build on Celestia's high throughput. We burned many cycles going down unproductive rabbit holes. But taking this approach led us somewhere more powerful than we could've planned: we found a hot spot of product activity. Over the past year, numerous high-performance onchain trading products have begun choosing Celestia. Why? Today, Celestia is the *only* way to ship the lowest latency onchain trading venues by any metric. You get: • 2ms latency with rollup frameworks like Sovereign SDK, • 6 second finality on Celestia (100x faster than other rollup base layers), and • ~200k TPS worth of bandwidth. Celestia is the only product that offers this combination, with projects like Bullet, Hibachi, VEX, RISE, Ethereal, and XO Market already pioneering this frontier with Celestia underneath. And while building around the needs of these projects... we now have a short-cut for doubling down in this direction :) More soon.

@mert Should be an easy way for normies to find best yields but also a simple way to gage risk associated with yield options. As well, not sure the best way of doing this, but private digital identity is a necessity for access to credit in defi.

Last cycle, the biggest source of edge was being short-term while everyone else bet on supercycle. Today it increasingly pays to do the opposite, as crypto’s best opportunities now require longer payoff horizons that few are willing to see through due to myopia and PTSD. Don’t think we, as an industry, fully appreciate yet how much memecoins and perp trading has giga-fried people’s brains and impaired market psychology.
