"To fund his golfing ambitions, McIlroy's parents took on extra jobs. Gerry worked 100 hours a week; he cleaned toilets and showers at a local sports club in the mornings, served as a bartender at Holywood Golf Club from 12 to 6 pm, then returned to the sports club to work behind the bar in the evenings. Rosie looked after Rory during the day, and worked night shifts packaging rolls of tape at a 3M factory in Bangor, County Down. Due to their conflicting schedules, McIlroy's parents rarely saw each other during this period. Gerry later said: "I had no idea what else to do. I’m a working-class man. We wanted to give our only child a chance." After finding success as a professional golfer, McIlroy bought his parents a house in 2009, and stated: "I’ll never be able to repay Mum and Dad for what they did, but at least they know they’ll never have to work another day. I’ll do whatever it takes to look after them."

@GemLeighton My daughter had a similar experience in middle school. She is now 29 and to this day will not do anything artistic. How incredibly small of these art teachers squashing any personal creative expression - I don’t get it.

I’m here to tell you that even though some have forgotten … I remember. I remember what it was like when Trump was president. I remember what he did and said, about Puerto Rico… About our people ... I remember after Hurricane Maria devastated our island… Trump blocked billions in relief … while thousands died. I remember that when our families lacked clean water and electricity, Trump threw paper towels and called Puerto Rico “dirty” and “poor.” But I was not surprised.. Because I ALSO remember… he launched his campaign by calling Latinos criminals and rapists. He’s told us what he’ll do. He'll separate children from their families and threatened to use the ARMY to do it This election goes way beyond political parties. Now let’s remember what the United States represents and stands for. It’s our name - United. Regardless of where we’re from. @DrJeffJarvis We have a GMC with Google built in and our phones are Bluetooth connected and CarPlay automatically works. Of course all the Google apps are there as well. Maybe try it at the dealer?

I am too competitive to be Mike Johnson… like this guy won one thing… the speakership, and he’s been losing ever since. It has to be humiliating to put bills up and not have the votes?! I’ve said this before but if they don’t even like each other, please tell me why anyone else should! It’s time to give control to the Dems & let @hakeemjeffries show them how to run the house. We are approaching yet another government shutdown, and after being on recess for 6 weeks & being back now for 2, we only have one more week to get this done. We can’t run the country on concepts of a budget… we have to pass an ACTUAL budget!
