Alex Rodriguez had a 1.050 OPS 36 HR 15 SB and was a top 3 player in baseball his age 20 season. Griffin is going to need one crazy run to match that.

Noah Schultz, the Chicago White Sox's top pitching prospect, expects to have a two-start week against the Rays and at the Athletics. It's hard not to compare Schultz to a taller and heavier Chris Sale, based on Schultz being 6-foot-10 and 240 pounds. ✍️Schultz had a 36.3% ball rate and 12-14% swinging-strike rate in the minors over the past two seasons. He doesn't generate tons of extension (6.2 to 6.3 feet) while throwing from a lower arm slot (5.7 feet). 🛝Schultz's slider grades as his best pitch while generating over 42 inches of downward movement and 12 inches of glove-side sweep. It's rare to find a slider thrown at 82 mph, with that much downward and horizontal movement. The closest slider comparisons in velocity and movement include Chris Sale, Brent Suter, Aaron Ashby, and JoJo Romero, from the left side. 🪝The curveball has been eliciting whiffs (29% swinging-strike rate) and weak contact (.276 wOBA, .183 xwOBA) throughout his minor league career over the past two seasons. Based on Schultz's curveball velocity, spin, and movement profiles, it looks like he can manipulate the slider and curveball as a scary breaking pitch. Schultz's sinker and changeup should theoretically lead to weak contact, given the low launch angles and high groundball approaches. There's a lot to like about Schultz, so let's hope he lives up to the hype.

@mike_petriello @tylermilliken_ Interesting, the so the aspect of it being a hard liner directly at him is captured then? More than just he needed to run 50 feet in 2.3 seconds (just for example) and 65% of the time major league outfielders can do that?

@baseball441771 @tylermilliken_ mostly distance and time, with adjustments for direction and wall as needed. if the many outfielders took a step in and didn't catch the ball.. then the catch probability would be lower.

@mike_petriello @tylermilliken_ Does catch probability only look at distance and time? Or does it account for the fact low liners are deceptive and perhaps many outfielders would take a step in on a ball like this?

Konnor Griffin is a generational prospect. A rewind to Bobby Witt Jr. debut season: 150 G .254 BA .294 OBP .722 OPS 31 doubles 20 HR 30 SB 98 wrc+ -11 OAA -4 DRS Every player is different, but Witt was also 2 years older. I think this would be a Top 15% outcome.

Bat Speed Increasers Just 2-3 games played for each guy, but bat speed stabilizes very, very quickly. Here is everybody swinging it at least 2mph faster this season

Where Kevin McGonigle should bat in the lineup is kind of a tough decision. On one hand, he’s your best option for a prototypical leadoff hitter. On the other, he’s also probably your best option for driving in runners as well.

I spent the morning making this. I've mispronounced too many baseball player names and went through MLB's official pronunciations to get it right. Here's my MLB Player Pronunciation Cheat Sheet.

@fantasyaceball 1. Made... 2. McGonigle... 3(a). Wetherholt... 3(b). De Vries... It's a tossup for third... Also, De Vries could easily be better than everyone on this list.

I take back the use of the term “unfortunately” It’s not unfortunate. I don’t care if he does well or not. Not everybody can be good. At most, like half the pitchers in the league can be good. And I don’t wanna waste one being on the dumb Braves I’ll try to be more careful with my words moving forward
Jon Anderson@JonPgh

unfortunately, Didier Fuente is still throwing his fastball two-thirds of the time. It's too much for an MLB starter. Only seven SPs used one pitch more than 55% of the time last year (all were four-seamers): 1) Ryne Nelson 62% 2) Sean Manaea 61% 3) Bowden Francis 58% 4) Ben Brown 56% 5) Mitchell Parker 56% 6) Jacob Misiorowski 55% 7) Cam Schlittler 55%

@TJStats How do the “Grades” reconcile with the Stuff? For example how does he have a 60 grade fastball, that is below average in Stuff+?

Dustin May kept his strong spring steady as he fired of 5 IP with 1 ER The super-spinning righty has consistently sat 97 MPH on his fastball after hovering at 95-96 MPH in 2025. This increase in velocity should pair well with his wicked secondaries in his first season with STL
