🚨 Big Shifts Ahead: Is a Harmonized EU Crypto Tax on the Horizon? 🇪🇺🪙 The European Parliament is signaling a major shift in how digital assets are treated across the bloc. Based on recent legislative discussions (specifically referencing TA-10-2026-0111), there is a growing push to move away from national tax laws toward a more unified EU framework for crypto capital gains. Here are the key takeaways from the proposal (specifically Section 123): 🔹 Ending Tax Arbitrage: Currently, a crypto investor in Germany might face different rules than one in Portugal or Italy. The EU aims to level the playing field to prevent "tax shopping" between member states. 🔹 Fair & Efficient Collection: The focus is on creating a streamlined system that ensures capital gains from crypto-assets are taxed effectively, providing much-needed revenue for national budgets while ensuring fairness compared to traditional financial instruments. 🔹 Cross-Border Cooperation: Expect increased transparency. The proposal emphasizes better administrative cooperation and data sharing to ensure that digital wealth doesn’t stay "under the radar." 🔹 Support for Innovation: While the goal is taxation, the Parliament acknowledges the need to remain competitive. The challenge lies in building a tax regime that is robust but doesn't stifle the burgeoning European Web3 ecosystem. Source: europarl.europa.eu/doceo/document… 🙏Special thanks to @kanmihalli for bringing it up!

@andyyy on ethereum they allowed people with eth collateral to exit which $500m of capital did today they launched a slightly different variation on L2 for loopers to exit not sure how much people have done it yet
Fluid 🌊@0xfluid

The aWETH Redemption Protocol is now live on @Arbitrum and @Base. After processing $400M+ in redemptions on Aave Ethereum, we're expanding to L2s. This time, we’ll be opening up for all loopers to unwind while ETH lenders exit to LSTs. How it works 🧵

There are people stuck in looped WETH positions right now losing tens of thousands of dollars per day. Unreal.

@The3D_ This is so petty, I’m an Aave user but this attitude is not the way that adults should behave (on both sides). Just focus on doing your own thing, no attacks needed, result should speak for themselves.

Quick reminder that the project that is attacking Aave left and right in these tough times literally has a stacking mechanism that allows people to lend against the founder’s tokens

imo the more reasonable way forward is that the 30,766 ETH go into rsETH backing, kelp socializes the remaining loss across L1 and L2 rsETH holders, aave oracle update accordingly and we can move on.. in terms of numbers that would drop unbacked rsETH approx from 112k to 83k thats ~11.5% haircut vs ~15% pre recovery if my numbers are not wrong that would reduce bad debt on aave from $123m to ~$90m out of which ~$67m would hit aave eth on mainnet i think its reasonable that umbrella should take the hit here reducing that $67m by $54m remaining $13m are either absorbed by aweth holders or DAO treasury should probably cover it
Arbitrum@arbitrum

The Arbitrum Security Council has taken emergency action to freeze the 30,766 ETH being held in the address on Arbitrum One that is connected to the KelpDAO exploit. The Security Council acted with input from law enforcement as to the exploiter’s identity, and, at all times, weighed its commitment to the security and integrity of the Arbitrum community without impacting any Arbitrum users or applications. After significant technical diligence and deliberation, the Security Council identified and executed a technical approach to move funds to safety without affecting any other chain state or Arbitrum users. As of April 20 11:26pm ET the funds have been successfully transferred to an intermediary frozen wallet. They are no longer accessible to the address that originally held the funds, and can only be moved by further action by Arbitrum governance, which will be coordinated with relevant parties.

@yield If automated trades are capped how was there a $3M loss in slippage? Not trying to throw any shade, but if this was truly in place would that have happened?

@cryptaxpt Let's say that I onramp EUR from my Portuguese bank account to a neobank and spend in EURC or USDC, there's not really any capital gain here, if this has to report every transaction then debit cards are simply over in Portugal

🚨Why crypto debet cards are a tax hassle in Portugal🇵🇹 Many of you are using crypto debit cards to buy real life good and services, unaware that every time you spend crypto is a taxable event, which needs to be reported to Portuguese tax authorities. Until now AT was not aware of your crypto debit card use, but if your provider has a CASP license in Europe, they will share your spending data with Portugal due to DAC8. I expect that a lot of degens will receive a letter in 2027, requesting why their debit card spendings are not reported in their IRS. Please be prepared or choose crypto credit cards where the tax is differed to the moment you pay of your debt like @Nexo.

🚨Partido Livre, the socialist party, proposes a law to end the tax exemption on capital gains from cryptoassets held for more than 365 days in Portugal ❌ The proposal suggests replacing the exemption with a 28% flat tax rate on capital gains from cryptoassets, regardless of how long they were held. This aligns the taxation of crypto with other forms of capital income, ensuring that all types of wealth contribute fairly to public funding and the welfare state. LIVRE notes that other EU countries already tax crypto gains: 🇪🇸Spain: progressive rates up to 28% 🇫🇷France: fixed rate of 30% 🇮🇹Italy: 26% above a certain threshold 🇳🇱Netherlands: annual wealth tax including crypto assets Should we worry?😨 It´s no news that the socialists don´t like us. Partido LIVRE currently only has 6 seats in the Assembly of the Republic of Portugal out of a total of 230. Based on those facts, I dont think this causes a direct thread. 🗒️Source: parlamento.pt/ActividadeParl…

For whatever reason, the exhaustive weight of bad info on Twitter has felt crushing lately. Anyone can post anything, I get the downsides, but in the past my feed felt useful. Today I just feel like it's rage bait and outright wrong info constantly, anyone else feel this way?
