a thorough grasp of system models—timing, network communication and node failure mode——is very necessary if you're going to understand distributed systems papers. i'd argue all three models should be committed to memory. it's the foundation every other idea in distributed systems build upon.

Having dedicated agents review code *pre-commit*, each with a rigorous focus on: - code clarity - abstraction quality - dependency structuring - API breakage - regression analysis - test coherence - perf - security - edge case handling etc gives drastically better results, IME

Only the non-technical CEOs & founders who has zero hands-on dev experience are pushing this complex agents/loops/graphs orchestration bullshit agenda. Real engineers at their companies are still carefully reviewing code, seeing edge cases, just describing it to Claude and all.

For a very long time I’ve been feeling that tech blogging is dead. It was such a big part of tech culture. And it was a great feat to have your own popular personal blog. Like it was almost shameful to be in tech and not have your own blog. Now only a few people keep blogging out of a habit. This is so weird to me because obviously the value of authentic high-quality tech articles is even bigger nowadays. It’s the island of hope in the middle of the ocean of AI slop.
