@samsheffer I can run a 5:30 mile and my HR at the paces you mentioned are both faster than yours. at 10:00 I'm 158-165 (depends on sleep, diet, hydration, temperature). 8:00 I can easily be 180-185.

@samsheffer Am 22 years and max HR is 212. Heart rate has some genetic variation. You can't compare runners heart rates at the same pace to see who is fitter. I would say many months of training at both easy and hard intensities will bring it down over time.
