Our region’s water consumption has dropped from an average of 149 mgd on Sept 18 to 120 mgd as of Oct 9. Thanks to everyone taking action to use less water. Together, we can reach our goal of 100 mgd or less until we get enough rain this fall to replenish our mountain reservoirs.

@CmonMattTHINK This one feels super geometric to me and I would thus go via the in center. It helps that I recognize the pythagorean triple

A challenge problem for Alg II Honors during our review for our first test (on lines, circles, relations, and functions): The line y = (24/7)x forms an acute angle with the x-axis. The line y = mx bisects that angle. What is m? (How might one approach this w/o trig?) #iteachmath

@mpershan I really don't get the fuss about the Replacements having lived through it once and listening to the reissue.

@dodecahedra I'm fairly sure the spirit of the age is to just repeat them confidently even vehemently in the face of opposition and that upgrades them to fact. No logic is necessary - usually a you're making me feel uncomfortable should quell arguments. Yay relativism and post-truth.

I have some opinions I'd like to upgrade to the status of facts. Anyone have some data and/or persuasive logical reasoning that can help get me what I want?

Some phalera awards – perhaps representing more prestigious decorations – were even finely crafted in dazzling glass, like this blue glass phalera with portrait of the Emperor Tiberius from Burnum military camp, Croatia, and this similar phalera showing Germanicus with his three sons, found in Colchester.

A stunning Roman silver phalera unearthed this summer at Vindolanda Roman fort near Hadrian's Wall! Phalerae were disc-shaped military decorations awarded to soldiers and proudly displayed on their parade armour, or mounted on the standards of individual military units. This newly discovered disk features the head of Medusa, one of the three monstrous Gorgons from Greek mythology, shown with her venomous snake hair and piercing eyes that turn onlookers to stone. @MathCurmudgeon @MartinOdimaJr IEPs are mandated by federal law, IDEA. There are parental protections built in everywhere including the right to be present when the plan is drafted and to disagree about measures.

@MartinOdimaJr In Vermont, parents are literally at the table when the IEP is written; they OK each piece of it. It's a contract between the school and the family.

Parents have the right to challenge IEPs written in schools because some IEPs just don't make sense.

If you suspect that the whole triangle is a 45-45-90 (which does turn out to be true) that also gives some test Polynomials you can divide out and see if there is a remainder.

I keep looking that this. 'What fraction is shaded?' What education system builds you into the person that puts a 2 on the bottom edge with the foresight that it will end so well?!
