@Hero_OfThe_Day @NBA You have to count on the refs missing about 25% of all calls. You just hope it’s not one sided. They’re completely overmatched in the NBA. College refs miss far fewer calls because the game is much slower. The NBA is probably too fast a game for a human to officiate.

VIDEO: Proof that the modern NBA is a joke!!! 🔥🔥 Here’s 5 of the 7 “blocks” from Victor Wembanyama in that first half. Every last one of them is a blatant uncalled goal-tend or foul……. Hey @NBA— We want the same set of rules for BOTH teams!!

@DraftDeeper Brown and Ament. Two of the bigger underachievers we’ve seen in college basketball in awhile. Statistically, both profile as busts, particularly Brown. But, he does have the injury excuse. Will be interesting.

The Masai Ujiri hiring with the Dallas Mavericks is fascinating because of where the Mavericks are projected to fall in the 2026 NBA Draft lottery. That mid-late lotto range is filled with impressive guard talent, however a lot of them don't fit the mold of players Ujiri has drafted previously with the Toronto Raptors (with a notable exception in Malachi Flynn). There is one, however, who possesses the athleticism/length that Ujiri has prioritized at other positions while having great upside of his own: Mikel Brown Jr.

@ShadeNym @MavsHighlights I don’t really think Kyrie is what we need at this point, but I agree we need to give him a good run before a trade. Hopefully, he knocks it out of the park enough for us to get one more very good young asset on Coop’s timeline.

I’m open to the idea but only after we’ve seen Coop and Kyrie together on the court next year. It very well may be that there isn’t a window here and as much as we want Kyrie to stay it’s best that we move on. But I have to see it first, I’m not ready to rule out Coop and Kyrie looking like world beaters in the next couple of years.

@MavsHighlights I don’t trust him fully yet, but he shouldn’t listen to us people in the peanut galary, that’s for sure. He’s a reputable hire. Let’s see what he can do.

@MavsHighlights Let’s just say I hope Ament turns out to be as good as he was supposed to be and not as mediocre as he actually was. If he could just shoot, he’d be a fine pick. I don’t know it that’s really a skill he’ll be able to develop though.

@wendyp4545 I was stationed in Italy for years. The economy, as you can imagine, loves us there. I know for a fact that the locals are actively working with the Italian govt to keep the sudden departure of our troops. But I do agree with the premise of your post.

Do you understand how asinine it is of our so-called elected Republicans in Congress? The Military receives a paycheck that is then spent into the economy of their current country that they're in. By downsizing our Military in these ungrateful hell holes, that money is then spent in our economy. BUT, like always, members of Congress always champions foreign countries instead of the US..

@jurgen_nauditt Funny how this happens shortly after a long conversation between Putin and Trump in which Americans have no idea what was discussed. That’s the typical pattern.

Trump – No Tomahawk Cruise Missiles for Europe. Is Trump deliberately weakening Europe against a Russian attack? Trump's announcement to reduce the US military contingent in Germany by more than 5,000 troops and to completely rescind the deployment of a battalion with long-range weapons – including Tomahawk cruise missiles – personally promised by Biden, is not just a dangerous U-turn. It is a strategic error of historic proportions that undermines the entire European security architecture. FT. While Biden had explicitly positioned the presence of American long-range weapons in Germany as a response to the growing Russian threat, Trump is now signaling precisely the opposite: America is withdrawing, deterrence is being weakened, and NATO's eastern flank remains vulnerable. More than 5,000 fewer troops in Germany mean, specifically, less training capacity, less rapid response capability, and less credibility with Moscow. The Tomahawks, which Putin has so far had to take seriously, will remain in the US – or will not be deployed at all. This isn't "cost optimization," it's a gift to the Kremlin. You can twist and turn it however you like: This policy appears to be a deliberate attempt by Trump to weaken Europe as much as possible for Russia's next move. Whether driven by isolationist indifference, a misguided "America First" logic, or an undisguised sympathy for authoritarian leaders, the result is the same: Putin receives the clear message that the US is no longer prepared to defend its European allies with full force. Germany, Poland, the Baltic states, and Ukraine are paying the price for this American self-disempowerment. Europe is now being forced to finally assume responsibility itself—unfortunately, it's clear that most European states are neither financially nor politically capable of doing so.

@MavsHighlights @NationMffl Players with BPMs well under 10 (Brown) usually bust. Players at 10+ (Burries & Philon) have a shot. It then comes down to NBA body and athleticism for me, and until we get info from the combine, Burries has the edge. He has a 30+ lb advantage with similar athleticism.

The problem with Americans—from the perspective of those all-seeing Europeans—is that they’re "stupid" and can’t see what’s obvious to Europeans (who, for their part, always see the true reality). Americans are incapable of thinking about an action before carrying it out; they act like they pee: according to the urgency of the moment. Which explains why the US has held the #1 spot worldwide in every field for a century🇺🇸

Let me explain Dallas(s) 1. The summers are unbearable and this cannot be understood without moving there. You can't just visit Texas for 3 weeks in peak summer and understand it, because that's not why it's bad. It's bad because it's late October and it's 90+ and you're questioning your sanity as to whether not it will ever end. 2. Dallas' culture, superficially seems good, but once you dig down... 3. Dallas living is about the airport. You save money in Dallas and then fly out all the time because being in Dallas is rough. Airline travel in the US has declined a lot, so this way of life works less well. 4. The driving. It's dangerous. You need a tank and you're going to be sitting in it all the time. Dallas sort of seems like a city but it's not really. It's more like an area. 5. You can trade 3% state income tax for better weather, more trees, and fewer problems. I think Dallas is a solid place to live in a bigger house with A/C and grind for money aggressively for a short period of time and then move out of. Other than that, unless you are tied down there (job, family), I can't recommend it.
Amy Nixon@texasrunnerDFW

I am astounded by the number of millennial families who moved to Dallas, bought a home, then turned around and sold the home to move out of Dallas, in less than a 5 year time span Is Dallas just super transient or is this a post-pandemic phenomenon happening everywhere?

@DavidBahnsen Neither airline is on solid ground. The sharp and sudden increase in costs from the war could well have sunk the merged company. All of Spirit’s assets, customers, and routes will be available to surviving airlines.

James - No sir, there is a near zero chance. The cost synergies, greater use of and capacity for fuel hedges, increased access to capital markets, lower cost of capital, plane resources, parts sourcing, labor structure, gate access, and management talent would have all created a fundamentally different airline. All there would be is a company whose employees were not out of a job, vendors who would be getting paid, and creditors not losing billions. This is a catastrophic failure of excessive state intervention and no spin will change that.
James Surowiecki@JamesSurowiecki

If JetBlue's acquisition of Spirit had been approved, there's a good chance JetBlue would now be headed into bankruptcy, too.

Okay leftists, you don't like Trump. I get that. But if you take back the House and the Senate, what will you do differently? For instance, President Trump has completely solved illegal immigration at this point. He has shut down the border. How will you improve upon that? Donald Trump has American energy production cranking on all cylinders. How will you improve upon that? As promised, manufacturing is coming back to America and exploding through the roof. How will you improve upon that? How will you reduce inflation without raising interest rates? Here's the thing. Your entire platform is hating Trump but you have no actual solutions that are better than what he's doing. Time for you to give us your platform or shut the hell up.

The US does also benefit from having bases in Europe but this sort of kiss-off attitude really makes one wonder why we should bother. We put up with lopsided tariffs for decades, get sneered at while we fund pharmaceutical research and your lavish welfare states, for what?
Andrew Neil@afneil

Good luck continuing to wage your war against Iran without your German bases. Well nigh impossible. US troops aren’t in Germany to protect Germans. They’ve been there to project US power. Bye bye.
