@audvin @levelsio @worrydream Ideas perhaps the wrong word. PARC developed fundamental tech of the kind that you can’t replicate quickly or easily. That’s regardless of their ability to productise.

If you want to change the world you have got to build something people value.

@levelsio Maybe we need to build a European equivalent. We're bad at commercialising research but maybe at least we can come up with and licence technology.

@levelsio I'm not sure that's the lesson those folks learned. Folks like @worrydream have been clear that to produce *really* game-changing ideas, you need that freedom and a complete absence of commercial pressure.
But yes, a mistake in the sense that Apple, not Xerox productised.

jpeg is a progressive format. at 50% loaded, it's visible but blurry
could we have a progressive format for structured text?
like, string-encoded json is invalid till fully loaded.
it should always be valid against a grammar, even at 50%?
for streaming UI, text outlines, etc.
