@JundeMorsenWu I guess it’s not USA making it harder but Tata and Co. used the system flooding the USA with low quality “engineers”. I’m not saying they don’t have good ones, but they used mass tactics to move as many as possible. Similar China. You are a victim of those companies
English

I’m an AI PhD at Oxford wanted to move to the US for years, but it never worked out. Maybe I can share why.
To me, it feels like the US is making it harder and harder for Chinese talent to come or stay.
First, Trump signed PP10043, which meant I couldn’t go to the US for any graduate school. That’s why I had to turn down my Stanford offer and come to Oxford.
Later, I qualified for an EB-1A (the extraordinary ability green card). But because I was born in China, I’m stuck in a country-specific backlog that could take another 4–5 years.
Meanwhile, on the other side, I’m getting 3–4 emails from China almost every week. They offer high salaries, free housing, generous research funding, and even offered an astonishing amount of money just for me to come back and have a conversation.
I’ve always loved the American spirit. I truly believe my abilities could have a bigger impact there. But honestly, the whole process has been incredibly frustrating.
All of this makes me wonder whether I should just give up.
Why am I spending so much energy trying to go to a country that doesn’t seem to want me, when another country is doing everything it can to bring me back?

kimi’s founder & ceo got his phd at cmu. why didn’t he stay in america?!

@iluvkylian ?? The problem is he didn’t change the starting lineup. How do you look at the spain midfield and think oh yeah i will keep playing with two pivot and 4 forward players. He only had one plan. Sub barcola and put doue in ALWAYS. What a sad way to go.
English

Key battle tomorrow is Olise vs Rodri.
Spain won't be afraid of France like every other team has been, so they will leave space in behind. If Olise can evade Rodri, initiate France's attacks and set Mbappe and Dembele on their way, France will win a tight game.
If, though, Rodri can get hold of Olise and stop these attacks before they get going, Spain will suffocate France in their own half and choke them out for victory, with Yamal putting Digne in a blender, having his signature World Cup moment.
On the other end, if Olise can disrupt Rodri's rhythm when he's initiating Spanish attacks, that'll be even more valuable. Far easier said than done though, especially relative to the other task at hand.
Rodri is far too good to be suffocated by one man. Even if that man is a football genius with an endless engine. Be glad if I'm wrong though.
Ultimately, I think Olise imposes his will enough, and France win a tight 2-1 game.
English

@TakesofAC DD should play 3 in midfield 4-3-3. I wish they tested this out on other games
English

@markgoldbridge Mbappe literally dived and got a penalty. I wanna hear the same energy for France like how u hate on Argentina. I bet you won’t make up stupid conspiracy theories like u did for Argentina tho. 🤣

Built mobile games with Fable 5 + @expo
If Claude or Expo sponsors me, I will build mobile apps/games all day 😄
Jokes aside, first time I tried StoreKit on iOS
If you're planning to do it, just DON'T
Go with @RevenueCat
I remember the old days, there was a guy on the team who handled the paywall and purchase flow by writing native codes
In the last 30 days, I built 70 mobile/web/desktop apps and games
Help me to stop building new game/apps

I cannot think of a worse way to decide a game then PK's. What an AWFUL way to determine the winner of a match, esp in the World Cup. Do ANYTHING else - add more time, add or remove players, shrink the field size, take turns with corners - if you MUST do PK's, back the shooter up 10 feet and make it hard to score. SO many better ways than this.
English

I’ve never been a Soccer fan but WOW I’ve watched most of the tournament and this World Cup has amazed me. Here are some things I’ve realized about the sport:
1.) Soccer is wildly physical. These players push, shove, and beat the shit out of each other & a lot of it goes unnoticed by the refs. You gotta be extremely durable to thrive on the pitch
2.) So much theater. These guys sell being “hurt” better than some of my peers in the WWE
3.) Penalty kicks are fkn insane. PK’s gotta be the most exciting/fucked thing in all of sports. Imagine being a goal keeper?? Soccer goes from team sport to individual sport QUICKLY, probably a mental nightmare for the athletes who lose on behalf of an entire country from a tiny mistake
4.) The referees can completely screw the game, the players, and entire nations with one call. That sucks
5.) This event may be the closest thing to world unity. All eyes on these athletes on the biggest stage in the world. Superstars are made. Careers forever changed

@BeatinTheBookie No America likes Oil. Man City bought trophies with oil money.

America likes winners. If they liked losers they’d support Man Utd.

The sad thing about the World Cup is an entire generation of Americans will become Man City supporters now just for Haaland

El periodista tiroteó contra los franceses tras sus denuncias por r4c1smo contra la senadora paraguaya.

🚨 SENATOR OF PARAGUAY, CELESTE SINEZOR OPEN LETTER TO KYLIAN MBAPPÉ:
The problem is between you and me. I have never said anything against France. On the contrary, I stand with France. I studied at a French school from the age of 2 until I was 17, where I completed my education. I am who I am thanks to the Collège de l’Immaculée Conception and the education it gave me. We sang La Marseillaise and honored the French flag alongside our own. I speak French and I love visiting France. Last Christmas, I spent the holidays with my family in Courchevel, and we welcomed the New Year in Saint Tropez. This has nothing to do with France. The problem is with you.
Your arrogance and contempt angered me long before the match, when you said, “If we have to put our hands in the dirt, then let’s do it.” We are not stupid. We understood perfectly that by “the dirt,” you meant the Paraguayan team, and the Paraguayan team represents all of us. Then you said you were going to remove our makeup. We understood that too. All of Paraguay remained silent, myself included. We endured it.
During the match, your arrogance was obvious. Your contempt for every Paraguayan player was clear, as if they were beneath you. Without even covering your mouth, you shouted, “La concha de tu madre,” an extremely offensive insult in Latin America, and you know it.
Finally, you showed complete disregard for the health of our goalkeeper. That is something you simply do not do. Respect between rivals after a match is almost sacred, in war and in peace, in defeat and in victory. Yet you refused to shake his hand and shouted your victory in his face. In a single moment, you displayed contempt, arrogance, and poor manners. It hurt me, it hurt my entire country, and it hurt deeply. France should hold you accountable because it is a nation of honor, with centuries of history and savoir faire.
My posts were written in the heat of the moment, with my blood boiling, the blood of a mixed heritage, a beautiful blend of Indigenous and Spanish ancestry that runs through my veins. I wrote them while watching you mock those extraordinary Paraguayan players who fought as equals until the final whistle. However, I immediately regretted responding to you with the same insults that I myself receive. I realized I was repeating the very behavior I despise, so I deleted the post. I understand that my words offended you because humiliation hurts.
Now I demand that you also retract your statements and apologize to me. I will not tolerate your violence either. You do not know me. You have no idea who I am, and you have no right to say that I AM A DESPICABLE WOMAN, UNWORTHY OF THE OFFICE I HOLD.
I am a Senator of the Paraguayan Nation, elected by the people. Before that, I was a National Deputy, also elected by the people. Thousands of Paraguayan men and women voted for me and consider me their voice. My foremost duty is to speak for the Paraguayan people, to say what they cannot say, and to defend my country with my life if necessary.
I represent my country because I was freely elected. I was chosen in democratic elections to help make its laws and to be its voice. You have no idea what it means to be elected to defend your nation and represent its people.
Who are you to call me unworthy or despicable when you do not even know me? This is blatant gender based violence. This is political violence against a woman who earned her position through the democratic vote of her people. You insult me because I am a woman. You attack my dignity as a woman and as a political representative.
Retract your statements, honor your French citizenship, and apologize. Otherwise, I may pursue legal action for gender based violence.
Celeste Amarilla
Senator of the Paraguayan Nation

Update: Fable 5 is a MONSTER.
It turned my game into a full 3D Mario 64 style game in ONE prompt.
So far I've spent $200 of tokens and it feels like I'll have a fully releasable game for mobile with about $500 in credits.
This is the most fun I've had with AI so far.
Mark Gadala-Maria@markgadala
Fable is so insanely good at video game creation. I've used $172 credits building this and it already is starting to feel like a real game I would have played as a kid. I've tried this with every other model (including Opus 4.8, GPT 5.5) and none have come even close to this.

I’m beyond grateful to have the opportunity to be in this country. I came here a bit over a year ago from Ethiopia, and my life has changed in ways I can’t even begin to explain.
This country is special. Despite what you see online, it’s the place where I’ve felt the most welcomed🫡
Happy July 4th!!🇺🇸

@GernBla85084597 @bereketB44 Yeah there’s a big difference between a game when you’ve already qualified for the next round and the ones where you haven’t
