Also, this only reinforces the fact that there will almost certainly be a toll booth. But it sounds like Trump wants in on the toll booth.

I'm very glad we have a ceasefire. I hope it lasts. But if Iran gets to charge $2 million per ship for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz during these 2 weeks (and potentially beyond), which feels like it's already a done deal, that's ridiculous. The strait was a free international waterway for decades. Turning it into a paid toll booth, even temporarily, after the military campaign hands the regime a direct cash windfall for "reconstruction" while they keep control over coordination and who gets through. It also shifts the precedent in their favor unless the final negotiations in Islamabad aggressively reverse it.

According to a statement from U.S. President Donald J. Trump on his Truth Social app, following requests by key Pakistani decision-makers to extend the deadline for strikes on Iranian energy and power infrastructure, he has agreed to a two-week ceasefire, where he has agreed to “suspend the bombing and attack of Iran.” Per the president, this is two-sided ceasefire, but it remains to be seen whether or not Iran will hold up their side of the deal.

@ArmsControlWonk Pretty much. It's morbidly hilarious watching the Iranians goad him. Not as hilarious as the next US election mind. If there is one of course 😉

I think what’s happening is that, for the first time in his life, Trump is being told “no.” Having dealt with people who have this particular personality disorder, there’s no obvious limit to what he’ll do to himself or others trying to avoid accepting it.

@billifer1973 Accurate. Probably the safest out for everyone is that he tells another absolute whopper, we all laugh and he takes a huge hit off that copium pipe. Alternatively he bombs infrastructure or drops a tactical nuke on Kharg Island or something.

@KnowltonSBooks @gabegutierrez So far as I know, civilians standing near powerplants isn't going against international law. But I could be wrong. Maybe it depends on whether they're forced to. Moot really because no one should be dropping bombs on either

In a brief phone call, Pres. Trump told me he couldn't provide any update on the status of talks with the Iranians, but he sharply criticized Iran's call for people to line up as human shields around power plants. "Totally illegal," he said. "They're not allowed to do that."

Prior to the 800 pm deadline tonight Trump will falsely claim that Iran has agreed to something that they have not. He will then say we're extending the deadline by 2 weeks Iran will then issue a statement claiming they have agreed to nothing It has become quite obvious that there will be no resolution in 2 weeks or even two months Fuel prices will continue to rise fueling inflation

I feel a deep sadness. So many of us worked very hard to get Trump back in office. We believed he would put America First and no new wars would be started. What we have seen this term is the opposite of what we voted for, understand it is not MAGA that has changed, it is Trump. Trump was a vessel to achieve the goal, he has failed the mission and it is time he leave the office.

No you don’t get it when Trump says “a whole civilization will die tonight” he is being hyperbolic and posturing unlike when Iran says “death to America” which is actually a very serious threat and should definitely serve as the basis for an invasion

@jonnywonny @vocalcry For each instance of the current US crowd offering to help rebuild somewhere after they blew it up, I'd like to see a full list/map of the people who own the companies brought in to do it and compare it to current US politicians and their family/friends

@vocalcry That’s a ridiculous false equivalency. Trump has already stated what the actual plan was, including the intention to provide aid to Iran if necessary to help rebuild.

Reporter: Trump has made no secret of the fact that he wants to prosecute his political enemies. How are you going to balance that relentless pressure with this administration's promise to end the weaponization of the department?  Blanche: We have thousands of ongoing investigations and prosecutions going on and it is true that some of them involve men, women, and entities that the president in the past has had issues with and that he believes should be investigated. That is his right and it is his duty to do that—meaning to lead this country.

@tommysantos14 When faced with the BIBLICAL POWER and MIGHT of the US armed forces, the best ever in the world ever, Iran decided to make a deal and forfeit their entire national identity so they didn't die. TRUMP TOWER TEHRAN COMING SOON! More PHALLIC than ever!

When Trump pussies out tonight, his message will go something like this: "I am pleased to announce that Iran has agreed to save the lives of its great and wonderful people and make a deal! Therefore, I am postponing the Total and Complete Devastation of their bridges and nuclear powerplants for one week. There is still a chance for Iran to become a respected country, the likes of which the world has never seen, if they do the right thing. We have already won this war, Totally and Completely. Do the right thing! Thank you for your attention to this matter!" What do you think? Did I miss anything? 😏

I choose my words intentionally. I detest hyperbole. And I believe I am a reasonable voice who presents facts in a measured, responsible, and level-headed manner. To say what I am about to say weighs heavily and is not said lightly or with partisan bias. It is time for the 25th Amendment to be exercised and Donald Trump removed from office. He is destroying our country and has destabilized the entire world. His actions are reckless and are directly endangering the lives, prosperity, and security of Americans. This cannot continue and is unsustainable in the current global environment. In addition to his erratic behavior, I believe he is suffering from dementia and is unable to carry out the Constitutional duties required of the President of the United States of America. I call upon Congress and the President’s cabinet to stop this madness now, before it is too late. (This is my personal opinion and does not necessarily reflect that of my employer, DoD, or any organization I am associated with.)

1. There is NO chance Trump uses an atomic bomb. Use your head people. Its not necessary, and it would create far more problems than it would solve (water contamination, etc) ... Act like you actually think about things before posting. 2. IMHO he's not even going to strike Iran any differently than we have been striking them. If he thought there was something they could bomb to make them "give up", they would have done it already.. I could be wrong about this, but I'm 85% certain I'm not.. Maybe he will bomb dams and power plants and desalination etc.. If he does, it probably won't go as he thinks. 3. The one thing that needs to be done is the one thing he wont' do. Militarily take control of/and defend the Strait.. this would be ugly, result in heavy losses and may or may not work.. Trump knows this... so, all he can do is make wild threats and TACO the markets and that's exactly what you can expect in the near term.. wild threats, and TACO pumps... probably two or three today, alone

Whenever I say, with horror, that our country has become "America the Bully," some people from abroad tell me, "You always have been." This is untrue. Never in history was there a more benign, beneficent great power than the United States.
