@ScorpioFlaco @Robintschek_CIA Ah, are you ESL? I think you've misread the original post.
English

@bhanschrift @Robintschek_CIA Nothing, I was just saying Jewish culture is very diverse unless you specify…
English

@ScorpioFlaco @Robintschek_CIA So what's the problem then, mate?
English

@bhanschrift @Robintschek_CIA Of course I have I’m British.
You’re referring to Ashkenazi Jews, they have their own culture sure, like Balkan Muslims…
English

@ScorpioFlaco @Robintschek_CIA The Jews in Britain are, suprisingly, not Ethiopian, or Chinese! They're European, have have the unique culture of European Jews.
Have you ever met a Jew?
English

@bhanschrift @Robintschek_CIA Distinct?
Ashkenazi, Indian, Ethiopian and Chinese Jews exist
Both the nation & religion are diverse…
English

@mindingmyps @NameOnCooldown @JihadalHaqq Everyone likes European pastries, they're the best on Earth and so ubiquitous no one in this conversation is bothering talking about them.
I'm attacking the assumption that simple, graceful meals like a fondue, schnitzel, or smorrebrod are somehow less valuable than like, ramen.
English

@bhanschrift @NameOnCooldown @JihadalHaqq No that's not what I'm saying, I'm saying that you're not making a good case for NE cuisine by showing up with cheese and bread
EU does have some of the best pastries fwiw so you should play into your strong suit
English

@ScorpioFlaco @Robintschek_CIA India is a tapestry of nations with no one single culture, whereas the jews are a distinct ethnoreligious group.
English

@mindingmyps @NameOnCooldown @JihadalHaqq for instance is very important for a good meal!
Think about how you'd never have red wine when eating seafood and cheeses, and you'd never go for a dry white when dealing with spice. There's two parts in that dish, wine and X.
This basic idea applies to N. European cuisine too!
English

@mindingmyps @NameOnCooldown @JihadalHaqq Do you think the worth of a food or cuisine stems from it's complexity? By that logic, Haggis, Haleem, and Kibah Nayeh are masterpieces.
What matters is how flavours interact, the background depth of the flavour of cheese and how it interacts with the sharpness of fruits 1/2...
English

@mindingmyps @NameOnCooldown @JihadalHaqq I was in a conference in Seoul, and despite being catered towards a wholy international audience, all the food provided was Northern European 'finger-food' -- Smorgasbord, sandwiches, croissants etc.
English

@mindingmyps @NameOnCooldown @JihadalHaqq I don't understand, Northern European food is also enjoyed and eaten internationally. It's delicious and simple and healthy, and does not rely on a confusion of spices to play at being tasty.

"Insular Celts" Goy I'm crine

Celtic Barbarian 𖥞@Kengetskeltikos
More daily lies from the usual Anglo nat. 1. Cornish and Cumbrians aren't English. 2. He is, yet again, ignoring the French IA. French IA is Gaulish, Celtic. Combining the the French IA continental Celtic, with the Insular Celts, the Cornish and Cumbrians are between 75-85% Celt
English

@timothyjweber Completely ignorant and wrong. Protestants, well, not anymore... and Libertarian? Ridiculous.
English

One of the biggest differences between New Zealand and Australia? Aussies are culturally Catholic secularists, Kiwis are culturally Protestant libertarians.

Shoutout Québec for literally making it illegal for a woman to take her husband's last name when she gets married, even if she wants to!
vo@vanillaopinions
it's kind of weird that the woman still takes the man's last name when they get married right. feels very antiquated
English

@JakeLandauTO I LOVE that Quebec does this! Solid progress to destroying the old patriarchical structures of society.
English

@daggerinmyteeth *Someone* can't name all territories and associated countries within the Realm of New Zealand.
English

Weird, windy, wet, and cold.

How is it living like in this part of NZ?
English

It's pretty cool that the University of Dublin predates all universities in Central Europe.
Amazing Maps@amazingmap

English

@esquiregee @nicky18a @theepicmap These patriotic kiwis are like country boys in the big city, they may long for the rolling hills of their youth, but they want more than just simple delights.
It helps that despite a few thousand kilometres of rough sea, their new countrymen talk, think, and act like them.
English

@esquiregee @nicky18a @theepicmap Well, New Zealand is awesome, and so is Australia. New Zealand is expensive, and Australia is cheap. These are not contradictory facts, New Zealand is a defacto satellite state of Australia in any case.
