@ChristOnABike0 @miriam_cates What you mean is, he spent the money he should not have touched. Does a saver with a bank account lose entitlement to their savings because the bank manager steals the fund?

@bhhsek @miriam_cates Gordon Brown abolished the ring fence around National Insurance when he was chancellor. The NI Act is worthless now.

No one has ‘paid into’ the state pension. NI payments are spent by the government of the day, not put into a pot with your name on. Using these terms just perpetuates the myth that the state pension is a contributory scheme. It isn’t. It’s a non-means tested universal benefit paid for by current taxpayers.

🚨 WATCH: Nigel Farage formally commits to the state pension triple lock if Reform UK win the next election "The people to whom pensions are being paid, certainly compared to a younger generation today, are those who have actually worked and paid into the system"

@BWoodzy99 Please refer to the National Insurance Act t of 1946 and the stated objectives of the contract between the state and the citizen. The fact that the government recklessly spends the money invested does not alter the right of the citizens.

Your taxes (including NI) didnt pay into a state pension they paid for day to day spending, you have no automatic right to one The current non-means tested triple lock pension is both unaffordable and immoral. Time to get a grip.

@miriam_cates There is also the additional point that the government chose to fritter away the NI contributions of the citizens. They could have been saved and invested. Don’t blame the people for the state’s greed.

@miriam_cates @miriam_cates. Please see the National Insurance Act 1946 which provided a “cradle to grave” social insurance system, tackling the “five giants” as a contract between the state and the individual, based upon contributions not means testing. It seems to contradict your assertion

@aDissentient @YvetteCooperMP Happy with corporal punishment where the outcome is likely to be positive. Also see the value of exemplary punishments to deter others. The present idea of short term removal intended to promote better behaviour is demonstrably a failure.

@bhhsek @YvetteCooperMP In terms of getting law and order fixed, corporal punishment is going to be cheaper, easier and more effective than capital punishment.

This is a disgraceful decision. The Nakba commemorative march always takes place on the Saturday closest to May 15th and invariably culminates with a rally in Whitehall or Trafalgar Square. This is a deeply political decision which overrides the rights of British Palestinians.

Not pleased with @superbikefactor . Bought a Honda Forza 350 2023 on 15th March. Waited 12 days for delivery. Arrived, not very clean, with a battery so decrepit that it won’t start. Attempts to contact the business by phone, by email, see absolutely no response. Annoying!

Deputy PM @DavidLammy waxing lyrically about Lord Mandelson. "A man of considerable expertise. The right man to be our Ambassador." "Looking forward to presenting his credentials to Donald Trump." That worked out well.

@zarahsultana @Prisoners4Pal @DefendOurJuries It would be tempting to say that this outcome is an indictment of jury trials, but that would be an error. The outcome is patently unjust… that is a risk in a judicial system that allows decisions to be reached by peers, - possibly ignoring evidence.

Today’s acquittal of six Palestine Action activists is a huge win against attempts to criminalise protest and resistance to genocide. After 500+ days in custody, the Filton jury returned not guilty verdicts on aggravated burglary for all, and no convictions on any other counts. Elbit Systems arms Israel’s genocide in Gaza and this Labour government enables it. Solidarity with all who took a stand, and all facing repression for speaking up for Palestine. We will not stop! 🇵🇸✊🏽

Danny Kruger says it’s Reform party policy to distance themselves from far-right extremist Tommy Robinson. So why has it been 4 days and counting since Matt Goodwin was asked to distance himself from Robinson and he still hasn’t done it? #politicslive #GortonAndDenton

@johnmcdonnellMP This is no huge victory for the policewoman injured by these activists ignorantly campaigning for a terrorist movement. This is no justice. The fact that you celebrate an abhorrent jury decision indicates your own total lack of morality.
